We are pleased to announce the addition of Orthospec™ – Medispec’s Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) to our clinical services. This non-invasive treatment modality uses focused acoustic waves to stimulate healing in musculoskeletal tissues, particularly for chronic tendonopathies and soft tissue injuries.

Call (410)644-1880 for a consult to get more information.

Some Key Clinical Uses:
Plantar fasciitis
Achilles tendonitis
Patellar tendonitis
Shoulder calcific tendonitis
Greater trochanteric pain syndrome
Medial/lateral epicondylitis

How It Works:
Orthospec™ ESWT delivers controlled acoustic pulses to targeted areas, increasing blood flow, promoting microtrauma, and stimulating the body’s natural healing response. This mechanical stimulation helps trigger cellular repair, collagen production, and neovascularization to support tissue regeneration and long-term pain relief. Treatments are administered in under 15 minutes and typically require 3 sessions for full effect.

The journey to be your surgeon...

Mom, I’m going on the cheapest ski vacation ever to Gore Mountain, NY....

That’s how I tore my ACL and started a journey to become an Orthopedic Surgeon. I was scrubbing into surgery at the University of Pittsburgh with my mentor, Dr. Fu, even before I went to medical school.

I’ve unfortunately had more than a few surgeries since and so I feel that I have a unique viewpoint when I tell you about your knee, shoulder, hip, bicep or carpal tunnel...Ha!

I was fortunate in training in Morgantown, WV to work for a decade at a level one trauma center. There is not much I haven’t seen. I was even the Foot and Ankle person and backup Pediatric person at times. We were lucky that we had so many patients that we didn’t have to be aggressive with surgery. Since I’ve moved to Maryland I see that many doctors downtown take a very different approach to Orthopaedics.
