🐾 Stop everything! It’s time for a “Paws-itive” Relationship Refresh! 🐾

Hey humans! It’s your favorite furry relationship guru again. My paw-rents were reading about Dr. Gary Chapman’s 5 Love Languages (and some Dr. Gottman wisdom too!), and it hit me—I’ve been practicing these since I was a puppy!

If you want to make your favorite human (or pup) feel extra special, you’ve gotta speak their specific language. Here is the “Tail-Wagging” guide to the
5 Love Languages:

🎾 1. Quality Time

This is the “Undivided Attention” language.
• For Humans: Putting the phone away and actually listening.
• For Me: A long walk in the park where you don’t check your watch once. No distractions, just us and the squirrels!

🦴 2. Acts of Service

This is the “Actions Speak Louder Than Barking” language.
• For Humans: Doing the dishes or folding the laundry so your partner can relax.
• For Me: When you finally clean my favorite squeaky toy or prep my dinner exactly on time. It’s the little things that show you care!

🐕 3. Physical Touch

This is the “Snuggle Bug” language.
• For Humans: A hug, holding hands, or a pat on the back.
• For Me: BELLY RUBS. Also, leaning my 60lb body against your legs while you try to drink coffee. Connection is key!

🎁 4. Receiving Gifts

This is the “Thoughtful Surprise” language.
• For Humans: Bringing home their favorite snack or a “just because” flower.
• For Me: A new crinkly toy or—dare I say it—cheese. It’s not about the price; it’s the fact that you thought of me!

🗣️ 5. Words of Affirmation

This is the “Tell Me I’m Good” language.
• For Humans: Compliments, “I love you,” and “I appreciate you.”
• For Me: Hearing the magic words: “Who’s a good boy? You are! Yes, you are!” My tail literally can’t stop wagging when you say nice things.

More Good Days, Together 🌿 May is Mental Health Month

This year’s theme is all about the collective journey toward better well-being. Mental health isn’t just about the absence of struggle; it’s about the presence of support, connection, and the small wins that make up a “good day.”

The Statistic That Might Surprise You
While we often talk about mental illness in the context of a “few,” the reality is much more universal:

“1 in 5 people experience a mental health condition each year—but 5 in 5 of us are managing our mental health every day.” — Mental Health America

How are you prioritizing your mental well-being today? Let’s share some “good day” habits in the comments. 👇

Feeling the burn? Let’s flip the script. 🔥

One of the most effective ways to push back against burnout is reframing your perspective. It’s not about ignoring the stress, but changing how you navigate it.

Try these three strategies to reclaim your energy:

1. Shift your focus: Intentionally lean into the positive aspects of your personal life. What’s going well outside of work?

2. Shrink the mountain: Break large, daunting tasks into smaller, more manageable parts. Progress is progress.

3. Celebrate the wins: Acknowledge the “small” victories. Every step forward is a reason to boost your motivation.

Paws & Pause: Taking a Breather with Maslow! 🐾

Woof! Sometimes the world feels a little too loud, even for a professional good boy like me. My ears perk up, my heart starts pitter-pattering like rain on a tin roof, and I feel that “fight or flight” feeling… kind of like when I see a squirrel but I’m stuck on my leash.

When my humans feel that way, I’m right there to help. But did you know I use my own nose to stay calm, too? It’s all about the 4-5-7 technique. It’s like a secret “reset” button for your brain!

Let’s do it together:
• Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds... (Imagine you’re sniffing my favorite bag of treats!)
• Hold that breath for 5 seconds... (Just stay still, like you’re waiting for a ‘stay’ command.)
• Whoosh it out through your mouth for 7 seconds... (Give it a long, slow sigh, just like I do when I finally flop onto my rug.)
