Join Nancy Fallon & Megan Martino for a Summer Solstice Yin & Myofascial Release Sound Healing Workshop on Sunday, June 29 from 3:00-4:30pm.

Let us come together to honor the Summer Solstice with a beautifully restorative practice bathed in sound healing! Traditional Chinese Medicine offers insight into how to move our bodies to help restore balance as we shift from one season into the next. The summer season is ruled by the fire element, stimulating within us an outward expansion of energy, movement, and consciousness. This is the time to expend our energy on things that bring us joy and light our passions. When our energy is out of balance, we may feel anxious, manic, depressed, or even burned out.

Join Megan & Nancy for a pampering experience to help heal and move anything that might need to be shed this season! We will begin with a discussion about the meridians associated with Summer in TCM. Next, Nancy will guide you through a myofascial release and yin practice to move stagnant qi through targeted areas of the body. During practice, you will be bathed by the healing tones of Megan’s sound bowls. You will leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and ready to flow into whatever it is that stokes your inner fire!

Nancy Fallen is back with her Mental Health Matters!

Becoming Embodied: Introduction to Somatic Therapy
Held on Sundays (6/29, 7/13, 7/27, 8/10) from 1:00-2:15 pm. Join virtually or in person.

Most of us intellectualize our emotions. This means pulling them up into our brains to analyze and worry over. We know exactly why we did something or responded a certain way. We think we know everything about our emotions! But, did you know that emotions actually live in our bodies? Emotions are energy in motion. And they need to move! If we don’t know how to do this, we end up with a chemical build up in our bodies (cortisol and adrenaline).

Eventually, it reaches a saturation point, and that’s when we start to experience physical or psychological pain, which is an alarm bell from our body trying to communicate that something is wrong and it’s time to drain emotional storage!

The body doesn’t speak in words, but in sensations. Sometimes they are very subtle, and it takes cultivating awareness through daily practice to understand the language of the body. In this 4 part series, learn how to identify and feel emotions in your body. Come to understand what your body is saying to you, and learn to start defaulting to the language of the body over the words of the mind. We will use meditation, somatic therapy, art therapy, and expressive writing to uncover our body’s vast communications.

Our mind thinks it knows everything, but the secret to living healthy, fulfilling lives full of purpose attuned with our highest path is in learning to listen to our bodies.

Yoga for Recovery Support blends therapeutic modalities such as meditation, sound healing, gentle yoga movements, somatic movements, yoga nidra, or journaling with some of the traditional 12 Step practices for addiction recovery (inspirational reading/sharing our experiences). We do not “work” the 12 steps in this class nor does this class substitute for other programs.

Both Vicki & Megan are Y12SR (Yoga for 12 Step Recovery) certified and are passionate about weaving their passion for yoga with the commitment to serving the recovery community.

Class is open to anyone working to overcome any form of addiction - from behavioral to substance abuse, those in recovery, as well as family & friends of those impacted by the addictive behavior of others. All are welcome and no yoga is necessary.

This is a free class that is donation-based. All donations are given to the Catonsville Emergency Assistance or other charitable group.

Starting May 23rd | Every other Friday 5:15-6:15 PM
