Today marks the beginning of Falls Prevention Awareness Week—a call to action to protect ourselves and those we care about from one of the most underestimated causes of injury.

Falls are a very serious matter that we all need to be paying attention to. They’re the leading cause of injury-related ER visits, and they can be downright dangerous. Beyond bruises and hip fractures, they can also cause potentially fatal injuries, especially among seniors.

At Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland, we recognize that falls are not completely avoidable, and thus, we provide convenient and comprehensive care for people with minor fall-related injuries.

If you sustain one, but you’re unable to see your healthcare provider, visit OACM After Hours. If our physician assistant determines that you do need to go to the emergency room, we will triage your injury and help you get there fast. You can call ahead at (443) 524-2577 to let us know you need to be seen. However, please take note that this is not an appointment; it is only a heads up.

Back pain doesn’t always point to a serious problem, but when it does, it's good to look at a variety of treatments that do not involve the use of addictive painkillers/opioids. One such treatment is the use of nerve and/or spinal stimulation.
