Catonsville Soccer

Catonsville Soccer Catonsville Soccer is focused on creating a program that educates youth in the sport of soccer. We are a 100% volunteer league with over 1000 members.

We offer both a recreational arm as well as a competitive travel program. Catonsville Youth Soccer Leagues (CYSL) is focused on creating a program that educates youth in the sport of soccer. Soccer education involves the balanced teaching of fair play, good sportsmanship, individual skills, team tactics, and the rules of the game

We are a youth recreation league servicing the Catonsville Maryland area. We offer clinic leagues for children ages 4 to 6 and recreation leagues for players 7 to 16. Players and Parents should be committed to one practice and one game a week. Games are typically held on Saturdays and practices are held on a week night determined by the coach.

Coaching/Playing experience: I have been coaching in the Catonsville program for 11 years and currently have a USSF C license. I'm currently the 2011 boys coach and previously coached the 2008 boys. I played at Catonsville High School (2001-2005), Widener University (2005-2009) and for the Baltimore Kickers after college.

Memorable Soccer moment: So many great moments on the pitch as a player and coach! My senior year at Widener we made it to the conference finals after a thrilling semi-final match. Last year the 2011 players set a goal to win a tournament, and they won 2! It's great to see former and current players achieving success on and off the field.

Coaching Philosophy: Create a fun, safe, player centered environment that fosters technical, tactical, social, and emotional development for holistic growth. I want players to feel inspired to continue to pursue their goals whether they are on or off the pitch.

Season Goals: To have players prepared to play high school soccer.

Favorite Team: Liverpool FC

Fun fact or other interests: I'm left footed but right handed.

Coaching/Playing experience: I've been coaching rec soccer for six years and had a great first season last year coaching the 2014 blue girls team. I played travel soccer as a kid and had some amazing experiences before I moved on to travel lacrosse, finally playing lacrosse and football at Glenelg High School.

Memorable Soccer moment: My favorite memory from playing travel soccer as a kid was playing in a tournament and it was raining all weekend. The fields were a total mess. We played one game that was at the bottom of a hill and the field was a complete mud pit. I can't even remember if we won or lost the game, but I remember having a ton of fun sliding around in the mud with my friends on the team.

Coaching Philosophy: I learned so many lessons from travel sports as a kid, beyond just the sports themselves. How to work hard, be a part of a team, how to grow and get better at something worthwhile. My hope is to teach my team practical skills and an attitude that they will be able to use for a lifetime, on or off the field.

Season Goals: My goals for the season are to have fun, work hard, and get better as a team!

Favorite Team: My favorite team is the Orioles!
