After a great deal of consideration about today's General Strike Against ICE, we are keeping our doors open and our register closed. During our regularly scheduled 6pm Kettlebell Class, we welcome anyone to come by for a community workout, to chat with us, for a dose of community and solidarity, or just for tea. For those feeling like they want to find a way to help protect our communities, we recommend connecting with Columbia County Sanctuary Movement or with Ulster Immigrant Defense Network to donate or volunteer. These organizations have been doing the work locally, on the ground and in community for longer than many of us have been aware of how deeply it is needed. Reach out to your NY State reps to demand that they support the NEW YORK FOR ALL ACT. I also recommend watching the powerful video for Bruce's "Streets of Minneapolis", though with a content warning: For those like myself who shield their heartspace by choosing not to watch any of the s***f films cycling through the news and social feeds, there are images and clips in this video from ICE murders and assaults. Eyes open, as much as you can. Hold your communities close and keep expanding your heart through mutual aid and solidarity, always.
