A thoughtful surprise brought a touch of spring to our day as we celebrated Social Work Appreciation Month. 🌷

A beautiful bouquet was shared with our social work team to thank them for the compassion, guidance, and support they bring to residents and families each day. Their dedication makes a meaningful difference in so many lives, and it’s always worth taking a moment to recognize the care they give so generously.

We are grateful for all that our social workers do to support our community.

Today, we recognize Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day and celebrate the dietitians who play an essential role in the care we provide across our centers.

Our dietitians work closely with care teams to coordinate meals that nourish both mind and body, while also delivering great taste. They thoughtfully consider individual dietary needs, preferences, and health goals to ensure each resident receives personalized nutrition that supports overall well-being.

We are grateful for their expertise, collaboration, and commitment to supporting health through balanced, resident-centered nutrition every day. To learn more about our care approach and the professionals who support it, visit nhca.com.

First-year RN clinical students from Columbia-Greene Community College recently spent time at The Pines at Catskill as part of their clinical rotation.

It’s always a pleasure welcoming the next generation of nurses into our community. Experiences like these give students the opportunity to gain hands-on learning, connect with residents, and see firsthand the compassion and teamwork that go into providing quality care every day.

We are grateful to be part of their learning journey and wish them all the best as they continue their path in nursing! 🩺

This Social Work Month, we celebrate Giovanna Martinez-Perez, our exceptional Licensed Master Social Worker at The Pines at Catskill!

She has been part of The Pines at Catskill team for the past 7 months. With 9 years of experience in social work, including 5 years in long-term care, Gigi brings compassion, experience, and dedication to supporting our residents and their families.

Gigi earned her BS from Niagara University and her MSW from The Catholic University of America before becoming licensed in her field. With extensive experience in mental health and geriatric care, she describes herself as a listener, a problem solver, and someone always ready to help when it matters most. One of her favorite fun facts about working in long-term care is that she now feels like she has over 100 grandparents — a testament to the meaningful connections she builds every day.

With compassion and dedication, she creates a safe space for individuals to share their experiences while providing families with the guidance, resources, and support they need to thrive. Thank you, Gigi, for your unwavering commitment to growth, healing, and success!

This Social Work Month, we celebrate Maggie Capra, our Discharge Planner at The Pines at Catskill!

Maggie began her education in Social Science in 2023 and has found a meaningful way to apply what she’s learned through her role supporting our residents and their care transitions.

Outside of work, Maggie enjoys photography and playing the piano whenever she can. She also loves spending time on creative hobbies like crafts, baking, and music — passions inspired by the artistic family she grew up in, who continue to encourage her growth both creatively and personally. We’re grateful to have Maggie as part of our team!

With compassion and dedication, she creates a safe space for individuals to share their experiences while providing families with the guidance, resources, and support they need to thrive. Thank you, Maggie, for your unwavering commitment to growth, healing, and success!

Our residents tried their Luck of the Irish during today’s fun Casino Day! 🍀

The room was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of excitement as everyone tested their luck and cheered each other on. Cards were dealt, chips were stacked, and the smiles kept coming as residents enjoyed a lively afternoon of games and great company.

It was a wonderful way to bring everyone together for some festive fun and a little St. Patrick’s Day spirit.
