▪️What do you enjoy most about your role? I enjoy the connections I've made with my patients and their families. The words of wisdom, the life stories, and the lessons they've taught me are amazing.

▪️What are three words to describe your team? Caring, Sympathetic, and Awesome to work with!

▪️Where do you see yourself with your career in five years? I see myself continuing to provide love and compassion to my patients and families in my current role as a Hospice Aide.

▪️Who inspires you? My patients and families always inspire me.

▪️What's your go-to way to unwind and recharge after a busy day? Relaxing at home and reflecting, appreciating the things and people in my life.

▪️What advice would you give someone just starting their career in your field? This isn't just a job, this is a privilege to be allowed into these patients lives at the end, and if you see it as work, you're missing out on a lot.

▪️What is something about Hospice that you wish more people knew? It's not work, it's not just a job, it's about the connections you make with people, the takeaway is being appreciative of what you do have, not what you don't. It's truly a privilege to be allowed into their lives and getting to know these fantastic individuals and their families.

▪️How long have you worked for Care Initiatives Hospice? I have been a part of this team for one and a half years.

▪️What do you enjoy the most about Care Initiatives Hospice? I enjoy building a special rapport with each of my patients and their families. I am able to give families a peace of mind that their loved ones are well taken care of when they can't be with them daily. Being able to support each patient's last wishes is very meaningful.

▪️️What are three words to describe Care Initiatives Hospice and your team? Reliable, confident, and supportive.

▪️Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself continuing to be my patients' #1 advocate and supporting my patients and their families when they need it the most.

▪️Who inspires you? My family and friends - both those who are here and the ones that have passed all inspire me.

▪️What's your go-to way to unwind and recharge after a busy day? Get outside and play with my kids. Fresh air and their little laughs and smiles are what it's all about!

▪️What advice would you give someone just starting their career in your field? Just do it! You miss out on all of the opportunities you do not take. Do not be afraid to ask questions along the way. Working in Hospice is much more rewarding than many realize.

▪️What is something about hospice that you wish more people knew? You don't have to wait until your final days for hospice to benefit you. Hospice can benefit patients physically, mentally, and spiritually. We provide help from our nurses, social workers, aides, massage therapists, reiki, spiritual counselors, and music therapists. They are so many amazing benefits that hospice can provide to you and your loved ones.

🌟Team Member Spotlight: Miranda B., RN, Case Manager 🌟

▪️How long have you worked for Care Initiatives Hospice? I have been a part of this team for 10 months.

▪️What do you enjoy the most about Care Initiatives Hospice? I love getting to develop strong relationships with my patients and their families. Getting to know each other well makes a huge positive impact on my ability to deliver patient centered care and I feel helps to boost morale if we can be a little silly sometimes and look forward to sharing stories at our next visit.

▪️️What are three words to describe Care Initiatives Hospice and your team? Supportive, adaptable, and fun

▪️Where do you see yourself in five years? I really feel I've found where I want to be for the foreseeable future in the team I've joined. I plan on finishing my BSN in the next couple of years, and eventually my master's degree.

▪️Who inspires you? My kids inspire me. I work hard to show them we can do anything and overcome anything, and they unknowingly remind me every day that it is okay to slow down and just play sometimes.

▪️What's your go-to way to unwind and recharge after a busy day? I love buying too many house plants and doing anything outside. Hiking, yard work, and pretending I know how to grow plants outside.

▪️What advice would you give someone just starting their career in your field? Always be your patient's biggest advocate. If you have a gut feeling about something speak up to their provider, or whoever it may be that you need to. Worst case scenario is you're wrong, but it's always better to be wrong and speak up then not say anything when you would have been right.

▪️What is something about hospice that you wish more people knew? Hospice is very different than what you used to think when you heard the word. It has truly become an all-around holistic approach to ensuring comfort and quality of life as we near the end of life. From nursing to massage to music, spiritual care, social work, and so many other people that all come together to ensure patients AND their families are cared for both in life and after death.
