Yes! A good read from Kathy Bates ❤️

Lymph node removal is a big decision and should be considered carefully with your physicians.

Behind every pink ribbon this October, millions are struggling with pain and disability from a disease that rarely makes headlines.

Make sure your bras are fitted properly!

💚 Watch the tightness of your bands and straps. Lymph travels at the surface level and is often cut off tight bras.

🎈 Bra’s & Your Lymphatic System 🎈

By Bianca Botha, CLT, RLD, MLDT, CDS

We wear them. We fight with them. We secretly fling them across the room the second we get home. Yes—bras. But have you ever thought about what your bra is doing to your lymphatic system? 👀

Your lymphatic system is your body’s quiet cleaning crew—working 24/7 to clear out waste, keep your immune system sharp, and make sure your fluids are flowing smoothly. So what happens when your bra joins the party? Let’s break it down with some science… and a little humor.

🎈 1. Restriction of Lymphatic Flow

That tight underwire bra? Think of it like putting a traffic jam on your body’s natural “highway of healing.” 🚦
When lymph nodes under your arms or around your chest get squished, the lymph fluid can’t drain properly. This can leave your body feeling a little “clogged up”—like forgetting to take the trash out for a week.

🎈 2. Lymphatic Drainage Areas

Your axillary lymph nodes (those little bean-shaped nodes in your armpits) are responsible for draining fluid from your chest, breasts, and arms. If your bra is too tight here, it’s like closing the exit ramps on a busy freeway. No one likes a road closure—especially your lymph! 🚧

🎈 3. Breast Health

Healthy lymph flow = happy breasts. 🌸
Some researchers suggest that when lymph flow is restricted, it might contribute to breast tenderness or swelling. While the science is still evolving, one thing’s for sure: your breasts will thank you for letting them breathe.

🎈 4. Fitting and Material

Bras aren’t the enemy—it’s the wrong bra that causes drama. 🕵️‍♀️
Opt for well-fitted bras made from breathable fabric. If your bra leaves red marks like it’s trying to brand you, that’s your sign to size up or switch styles.

🎈 5. Movement = Lymphatic Flow

Here’s the fun part: your lymph LOVES movement. Jumping, dancing, stretching, laughing—yes, even laughing—helps keep lymph fluid flowing. 😂
So if your bra is so tight that you can’t bust out a dance move or reach for the top shelf, it’s time for a rethink.

Fun Fact 🎉

Did you know? Some women call that magical moment of unclipping their bra the “second coming of oxygen.” And guess what? Your lymphatic system probably agrees.

✨ Takeaway: Bras should support, not strangle. Choose comfort, let your lymph flow, and remember—it’s not you, it’s the bra.

🌻 Sunflower Special Recipient 🌻
Joy Thorson

Joy was chosen to receive an in-kind Lymphatic Drainage massage. She has graciously shared a testimonial below. The best and deserving people always find their way to my table. 💚

"After years of focusing on recovery from breast cancer, I didn’t realize how much healing my body still needed—until I met Emily. When I went through breast cancer treatment in 1999, my only goal was clear—get rid of the cancer. Part of that journey meant having lymph nodes removed, but at the time, I didn’t think twice about what that would mean for my body later on.

Years—and multiple surgeries—later, including mastectomies, I was left with some serious scarring. I went to see Emily for scar release treatments, simply hoping to feel a little more comfortable in my own skin. What I didn’t expect was how much I would learn in the process. Emily took the time to explain how the lymphatic system works and how mine had likely been struggling ever since those early surgeries.

That’s when I had my first lymphatic drainage treatment—and oh my, what a difference I felt. It was as if my body finally exhaled after holding its breath for years. That experience reminded me that healing isn’t just about surviving cancer—it’s about giving your body the care it still needs long after treatment ends. I’m so grateful for Emily’s knowledge, compassion, and healing touch. She is a Transcend(ing) treasure."

This is my Aunt Stephanie! She has a love of traveling 🏖️, concerts (Rod Stewart was her favorite 🎶), sunflowers, the Packers and spending time with her two grandkids.

🩷 Steph is battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She has been quite the warrior thus far! I have been able to help make my aunt feel comfortable the best ways I know how- Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Ortho-bionomy. 💆‍♀️

It got me thinking that I wanted to be able to honor my Aunt Steph, her fight, and the warriors that I too often see on my table, but how? 🤔

🌻Welcome the Sunflower Special 🌻

🟡 Bimonthly, I will choose a deserving person for a free, 1 hour Lymphatic Drainage treatment!

After receiving the service, the selected client will also get to GIFT an in-kind Lymphatic Drainage to a person of their choosing.

⚫ Services will be performed by myself and schedule permitting. The people chosen are not required to share their name, picture or experience unless compelled to do so. 🙂

🟡 I hope that this will help spread the word and benefits of Lymphatic Drainage, while honoring my aunt and so many others.

"I just always loved sunflowers since I was little. They make me happy. I want everyone to be happy. I have bad days, but not many.
They always turn their head to the sun like they are soaking up the sunshine ☀️. They look so happy and bright. You just have to be happy around them." 🙂

A huge thank you to Transcend Mind-Body Wellness for donating their portion of the service, and helping me see this through! 💚
