We sometimes over do it and go extreme resulting in injury. Sometimes it’s just a fluke accident. Either way you knowing the difference between a sprain and a strain can help in your recovery. A sprain is the stretching or tearing of ligaments (tissue connecting bone to bone), while a strain is the stretching or tearing of muscles or tendons (tissue connecting muscle to bone). Sprains often cause bruising and joint instability, whereas strains typically cause muscle spasms and pain during movement.
* Sprain Symptoms: Swelling, bruising, pain, and inability to use the joint.
* Strain Symptoms: Pain, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, and swelling.
* Causes: Both occur from overstretching, twisting, or falling. *Always remember to consult your doctor for diagnosis.
