🌟Staff Highlight! 🌟Introducing our incredible staff at ABA Connect, who deliver exceptional play-based ABA therapy to kids with autism. Together, we are changing lives and improving outcomes for kids and their families.
This week’s highlight is Marcela Rodriguez, BCBA, for ABA Connect.
Q: How did you know you wanted to work in ABA?
When I was working toward becoming a Special Education teacher, I heard about behavior analysis, and it immediately caught my attention. When I began my coursework in Behavior Analysis, I fell in love with the field and everything it has to offer. Being able to work 1:1 with children, their families, and other clinicians made me see the impact that I can make in others lives and how much it can teach me.
Q: What are you passionate about within the field of ABA?
I am mostly passionate about advocating for my clients and their families in any way that I can. From teaching my clients to use their words to express their wants and needs, their likes and dislikes, to support parents in decision making about current and future goals in all environments.
Q: How does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I love making others laugh by being silly and relaxed! I love to see the good in everything and celebrate every step of the way, making little ones believe in themselves just how others believed in me!
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your work?
The thing that I find most rewarding about my work is seeing the skills that I teach being used outside of therapy. Hearing parents say that their child is requesting items, asking others for space, or practicing calm down strategies outside of therapy makes my heart happy!
Q: In three words, describe your therapy style:
Compassionate, silly, and playful!
