It is my privilege to represent Cedar Park and bring new ideas to our City's council. My parents were civically engaged and their influence taught me the value of participating in opportunities to help others and give back. While serving in the US Naval Reserves as a Hospital Corpsman, I completed my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Community service was a large part of my time in college, volunteering time to local schools, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), and University students. Following graduation from Montana State University, I moved to Lubbock, TX. Not too long after beginning work as an RN, I was assigned the role of Charge Nurse. I completed the training to become a Guardian Ad Litem for CASA. Serving as a CASA Volunteer was an extremely rewarding experience. I met my husband in Lubbock, and we relocated to Cedar Park. Upon our arrival to Cedar Park, it certainly was not the city it is today. We have watched it grow immensely, adding many new homes, businesses and schools. Continuing my service in the US Navy, I received my commission in US Navy Nurse Corps, shortly after moving to Cedar Park. While in the Navy, I was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals and a Meritorious Service Medal. I have worked in Austin hospitals for more than 21 years. During my tenure in nursing, I have worked as a Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, and Clinical Nursing Manager. Serving in leadership roles throughout my adult life, has paved the way for me to expand my focus to the needs of my community. I coached two seasons of girls fast pitch softball at Cedar Park Youth League. I serve on the student health advisory committee for the Leander Independent School District (SHAC). I volunteered as medical support for the Austin Marathon for three years. Additionally, I served on the Austin Alumnae Panhellenic Association. I volunteer for Hill Country Community Ministries and Samaritan Health Ministries. I serve on the Special Olympics Community Outreach, HMS PTA, and CPHS Softball Booster Club. I’m also a proud member of the American Legion. On Council, I serve on the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) and Redevelopment Subcommittee. In my free time, I enjoy watching my daughter play softball and my son competing in chess tournaments. I love reading and traveling. My family enjoys fishing, camping and all things outdoors.
