Our Story
DHMS was founded in 2003 to provide portable dental treatment, portable hygiene and related dental services. We began providing services to assisted living patients, nursing home and homebound patients. In 2005, Logistics Health Incorporated (hereafter referred to as LHI) contacted us asking if we would be interested in doing the reserve screenings events. We of course tried it and began doing more military screening events with LHI. We have since branched out into dental staffing as well.
In March of 2005, DHMS began providing services for the Arkansas Army Reserve with a primary goal of ensuring a high quality service for our service members. DHMSโs ability to meet deadlines and display exceptional flexibility on date changes and time extensions was noted and services were expanded to other states. As a result, the FEDS_HEAL program (award winning and innovative alliance that delivers medical and dental services to Reserve Component members in all 50 states and territories, and its supporting model developed within LHI, has continued to expand.
It was an honor for DHMS to serve as a subcontractor to LHI for the Federal Strategic Health Alliance (FEDS_HEAL) Program, This Program provided comprehensive medical and dental readiness services to SMs. Since the Programโs inception, the Air Force Reserve (AFR), Air National Guard (ANG) and U.S. Navy Reserve (USNR) have also been added as component customers who participate in the Program.
In September 2006, the FEDS_HEAL Bridge Contract was awarded to LHI as a continuation of the FEDS_HEAL initiative. The contract was transferred from FOH to DoD and continued the same scope of medical and dental services for the DoD. Then as a result of a competitive bid, in September 2007, LHI was awarded the Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP - ensures the medical and dental health readiness of Services Members comprising the Armed Forces). In the post-award analysis of all bids on the RHRP, LHI was superior in every criteria that was evaluated (i.e., corporate management, technical approach, past performance, etc.). In most categories, LHI was rated as exceptional. LHIโs nearest competitor received no exceptional ratings.
In April 2009, DHMS was awarded contract W912NR-09-A-0013 for the Louisiana Army National Guard (LAANG). This contract requires DHMS to provide Dentists and Dental staff to conduct annual dental examinations and readiness classifications for LAANG soldiers. The exams will consist of oral evaluation; caries risk assessment, periodontal assessment, to***co risk assessment and oral cancer screening. This contract is continual to April of 2012.
On average DHMS currently places approximately 1000 personnel per month in military deployment events, healthcare facilities, private practice and correctional facilities. The placements are for both temporary and permanent positions providing general / geriatric dental services. Services are available in all 50 states as well as U.S. Territories and DC.
