Team Betty Boo's Walk to End Alzheimer's I've created Team Bettye Boos to honor my mommy, Bettye Jones. Sadly, she lost her battle to vasculer dementia in November of 2017.

In honor of Black History Month, we recognize trailblazing Athlete Candace Parker, the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game. She has brought her strength and determination to the fight to end Alzheimer’s in honor of the late Coach Pat Summitt. “When Coach Summitt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, it affected all of us. It opened up my eyes to how many people are living with Alzheimer’s or caring for someone who is.”

Teri Skoog is one of our incredible Community Educators, and she is leading the Living with Alzheimer's education programs in February and March. Register at alz.org/iowa/helping_you/programs-event-calendar.
Teri is a Geriatric Social Worker, Dementia Support Consultant, Certified DAWN Dementia Care Specialist, and a Trainer/Educator in Elderhood, Caregiving Support, and End of Life Care. She strives to help create a world in which people embrace aging with grace, affirmation, and purpose. Her experience comes not only from decades of working as a professional in elder care but also from being her mother's personal caregiver while she lived and died with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia. Teri serves the Alzheimer's Association as a Community Educator, Support Group Facilitator, and member of the Care & Support Volunteer Advisory Committee.
