As the weather warms, we see an increase in visitors at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery!

Our grounds are designed and maintained to be beautiful for public use, and a few simple guidelines can ensure our community can enjoy all that it has to offer without worry.

👟 Walk between the rows and avoid stepping directly on grave markers.
💚 Be respectful and give space to other visitors or any services taking place.
🦢 Refrain from feeding the swans. Enjoy them from a safe, respectful distance.
🚫 Be aware that our grounds close at sundown.

Experiencing loss can be difficult, especially for children. If your child's first loss is a grandparent, consider the book "When Your Grandparent Dies: A Child's Guide to Good Grief" by Victoria Ryan.

This illustrated book is written from a Christian perspective, exploring the meaning of death and heaven, and helping your child find comfort and closure.

The Cedar Memorial Family Center and Library also features a wide assortment of books, publications, and videos about grief and healing.

Our Story

Carl K. Linge, the founder of Cedar Memorial, purchased a farm along the main road between Cedar Rapids and Marion in the winter of 1929. At that time the two cities were separated by about 6 miles of countryside. Later that same year, he began building a new kind of cemetery called a park plan. Instead of large stone monuments, it would feature enduring bronze memorials set flush with the ground. Carl kept expanding his unique cemetery through the years.

A second and a third generation of Linges continued Carl's vision, and today, Cedar Memorial is one of the most respected cemeteries and funeral homes in the Midwest.

At Cedar Memorial, you'll find comfort, dignity, and quality at every turn. From our distinctive facilities and grounds to our caring, professional staff — we provide "Everything for your family."

We pride ourselves in providing innovative funeral and cemetery services to families throughout the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. Cedar Memorial also strives to give back to the community through sponsorship of special events.
