Crystal Prull was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2023. Upon learning of her diagnosis, she had to break the news to her family. There with Crystal as she told her mom was her sister Carol Janssen. Little did any of them know, they’d be having a very similar conversation weeks later when Carol would receive a breast cancer diagnosis of her own.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer within weeks of each other, sisters Crystal Prull and Carol Janssen navigated the journey together.

Marking 10 years of the Nassif Radiation Center through the eyes of its first patient — and now its executive director.

Today, Andrea Watkinson serves as the executive director of Cancer Services for UnityPoint Health - Cedar Rapids, which includes oversight of St. Luke’s Nassif Radiation Center. Ten years ago, however, when the radiation center first opened, she wasn’t just walking through the doors as a team member, but as the very first patient in the new facility.
