Meet Debbie White, Service Coordinator

Debbie works at our Vinton location and connects with many of the Vinton community members as she is a longtime local.

Time at the Funeral Home: 5 years

Debbie does many different tasks around the office.

What brought her to Teahen’s? After retirement she was looking for a way to be an active community member in her daily life.

Favorite Part of her Job: Meeting with and assisting families in planning funeral services.

Debbie claims, “ I have found that this is the most fulfilling/rewarding work I’ve ever done.”

Meet, Penny Ackerman, our Pre-need Coordinator.

Penny works at our Cedar Rapids and Vinton locations.

Full-time employee since 2021, but part-time before that.

Penny assists many people, including those who are going on or already on Medicaid, to pre-arrange and/or pre-fund their final expenses.

She also officiates non-denominational funeral services.

Favorite part of your job, “Bringing comfort to families when officiating funeral services for their loved ones and meeting with and assisting people with the process of pre-arranging their final wishes.”

Meet Sue!

Sue is a service coordinator at the funeral home and has been here for 10 years.

Sue does many things here at the funeral home, from general office work and greeting guests to acting as a graphic designer making memorial folders, editing photos, and preparing personalized slide shows of the decedent. She also, maintains the outdoor marquee making a variety signs.

What brought you to Teahen’s? “It’s funny, after leaving the nursing profession in 2014, I learned there was a temporary need for someone to help in the office, so I volunteered and never left.”

Favorite part of your job, “I love personalizing and designing each funeral product to be geared toward the decedent’s life. Plus I love the people I work with.”

We are lucky to have Sue at the funeral home for many reasons, but grateful that she loves to cook and often spoils us with her amazing food.
