"I am enough"

SPAM, or in this case, SPAM Musubi, is a popular Hawaiian snack made with a slice of SPAM, seasoned rice, wrapped in seaweed, and then fried to a caramelized glaze. SPAM was created in Minnesota as a more shelf-stable and convenient alternative to regular ham (yes, ham), but quickly became a staple in Hawaiian and Guam cuisine. Hawaii and Guam are still 2 of the largest SPAM consumers in the world today.

"You make me so proud"

Created in Japan, Miso (mee-so), like soy sauce, is a fermented soybean product usually made into a paste. Although used in many dishes, miso is probably the most recognizable by it's soup form: Miso Soup. Miso Soup is made with stock or broth, seaweed, green onions, miso paste, and tofu, and is typically eaten alongside a main meal or rice.

"You are so amazing"

Competing with rice for the title of "Most Important Ingredient," soy sauce is another global staple used in millions of dishes. Originally created over a thousand years ago in China, soy sauce is made using fermented soybeans (hence the name). Many countries have their own version of soy sauce, including Jiangyou (Mandarin), Shoyo (Japanese), Ganjang (Korean), and Kecap Manis (Indonesian). And each one has its own distinct flavor!

"Be nice to yourself"

Rice is one of the most well-known foods in the world, so I don't need to explain much there, but the rice dish I chose for this pun is Onigiri: a Japanese rice ball shaped into a triangle, filled with savory flavors, mayo, and then wrapped in seaweed. Onigiri is a common traveling snack because it is surprisingly portable and easy to eat!

"Don't worry about being enough, you already are"

Bao (bow, like wow) is a Chinese steamed bun, usually filled with meat or various sweet fillings like fruit. Bao is also a staple in Dim Sum. Places like Taiwan and Vietnam also have their own versions of Bao, including Bánh bao, a savory bun filled with chicken and pork.

15 years since I (Sabrina) completed my masters degree in counseling.

That final year was an emotional rollercoaster...
35 weeks pregnant, 32 hrs/week of work at the daycare, 20ish hours/week of counseling work for internship, the deaths of loved ones

I think 2011 Sabrina would be damn proud of where we are today

Congrats to all of those pursuing dreams and graduating this month!

"Keep calm and carry on"

Curry is an incredibly diverse and well-liked dish usually consisting of a thick sauce, spices, meat, and vegetables, and served alongside or on top of plain rice and bread. After it's initial creation in India, curry became a continental hit, and can now be attributed to many places including India, Pakistan, Cambodia, Trinidad, Thailand, and Japan.

Curry is one of my all time FAVORITE foods, and there's still plenty more to try!

"You should believe in yourself, you're awfully cool"

Pandan Waffles, or Bánh Kẹp Lá Dứa, are a common Southeast Asian/Vietnamese street food made with rice flour, coconut milk, tapioca starch, powdered sugar, and pandan extract. They get their vibrant green color from Pandan, a tropical plant whose leaves have a sweet vanilla-y flavor and are used in many desserts throughout the area.

Unlike typical waffles, these cakes aren't made for syrup. I recommend eating them plain or with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

On Mother's Day, Health Hope Harmony would like to celebrate and honor all the mothers and mother figures. We also want to take a moment to recognize this day is hard for some people. So we want to honor and celebrate you as well.

For those struggling with infertility - we see you.
For those who always wanted a child and it never happened - we see you.
For those who have lost a child - we see you.
For those who are grieving a mother - we see you.

I (Sabrina) had the pleasure sitting next to a young man on a plane ride from Chicago to Cedar Rapids on Wednesday and we chatted the entire time. This is his first Mother's Day without his mom. He decided he could honor her memory by having a glazed donut (her favorite).

Here's to Jon's momma and all the others who are celebrating, grieving, or just getting by

How do you honor and remember loved ones who have passed?
