Grab some iced coffee and meet Tonya this sunny Friday ☀️
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” - Carl Rogers
Tonya graduated from Mount Mercy University in 2023 with a major in psychology and minors in Spanish and sociology. During her undergraduate experience, Tonya dedicated over 300 hours to mentoring low-income, minority, and first-generation college students. This is where she found her passion for fostering connection, growth, and a sense of safety with those around her. Tonya is now in the second year of her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, where she is excited to work with humans of all different experiences and backgrounds.
Tonya brings her authentic self to the therapy room and believes in the power of having honest, compassionate conversations. She strives to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where people can also be their authentic selves - without fear of judgement. With a commitment to cultural humility, Tonya works to honor every person’s unique story, strengths, and challenges. Tonya aims to empower her clients while also offering thoughtful challenges that promote growth. She approaches therapy with a spirit of curiosity, acceptance, and a genuine desire to understand, ensuring that each person feels heard, valued, and respected.
In her free time, Tonya enjoys spending time with her cat, baking sweet treats, traveling, and being in nature. You will often find her with an iced coffee (or two) in her hands.
