Did you know we can perform advanced diagnostic imaging here at Cedar Animal Hospital?

Recently, one of our very own veterinarians traveled to Victoria, British Columbia to further her training. Dr. Cervantes worked alongside other veterinarians to expand her knowledge of rabbit/rodent CT scans. “Now I feel more comfortable interpreting CT’s in house and preventing two procedures for the patient. This ultimately helps save client costs too”, said Dr. Cervantes.

Does your dog have a license? Michigan requires all dogs over the age of four months (16 weeks) to get their rabies vaccine and their county’s dog license annually. We can do that for you right here at Cedar Animal Hospital! And, did you know, that if you live in Kent County and your pet gets lost, they can get home faster with a Kent County "smart" Dog License? When someone finds your pet, they can scan the QR code on the license with a smartphone, and can see the customized pet profile, which includes who to contact if found and a phone number to reach them. They can also call the phone number on the back of the tag if they don’t have a smart phone. Give us a call today at (616) 696-1212 to set up your dog’s rabies vaccination and get them licensed!

We recently were able to help a cat that wouldn’t have had a fighting chance of surviving his illness two years ago.

Max the cat was brought into Cedar Animal Hospital recently when he stopped eating and suffered weight loss. He underwent exploratory surgery and then tested positive for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). After surgery he was sent home on a new anti-viral medication to help increase his chances of survival.

We are happy to report Max is doing well!
“Survival is something we wouldn’t have thought possible a year or two ago,” said Dr. Lawrence Nauta.

Max’s owners sent us adorable photos and said, “We are so grateful to Dr. Backus and the staff at CAH for saving Max!”

If your cat is not eating, drinking, or seems lethargic, give us a call at (616) 696-1212 to get checked out.
