Orenda Counseling Services-WI

Orenda Counseling Services-WI Individual, couple, and family therapy in the suburbs of Milwaukee, WI

My goal is to help clients uncover their most authentic self by exploring how change, growth, and insight can lead to better relationships both within and with others. I utilize systems theory and an integrative approach to help others achieve their goals and overall emotional well-being. I believe people have the inherent ability to embrace strengths from within to effect change. I am passionate about providing a safe and supportive environment for clients and empowering them on their journey towards healing. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with adolescent and adult individuals, couples, and family systems. I am also a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist with experience in assessment and treatment of eating disorders and body image issues in various levels of care. I am an affirmative and non-judgmental therapist and I welcome diversity including all body sizes, abilities, races, sexualities, genders, religions and political values. Reaching out for support takes strength and resilience and it would be a privilege to join with you on this therapeutic journey.

Choose this Juneteenth to have a conversation on the historical impact and bravery it took to end slavery. In this political climate, this is a great opportunity to educate ourselves on the struggles and challenges the Black community continues to face.

Celebrate Juneteenth by reading books written by Black authors, listen to music by Black artists, and buy and support Black art. Donate to local Black businesses, non-profits, and community organizations.

Calling all bookworms! Kristine here – I thought a great way for me to share a little bit more about myself, my work and most importantly - my cats, would be by sharing books I’m currently reading. I’m drawn to nonfiction books that explore sociocultural issues that not only intersect with my work as a therapist but are interesting reads: a win-win!

This month I’m reading “The Gospel of Wellness: Gyms, Gurus, Goop, and the False Promise of Self-Care” by Rina Rapheal which is a deep dive into the (you guessed it) wellness industry. She explores how and why this industry has managed to become a multitrillion dollar industry that promises “health and vitality” through savvily-marketed solutions such as juicing, detoxing, biohacking, healing crystals, etc. while pondering the notion of why we’ve become so “unwell” in the first place. But are all these sleek products and “clean” lifestyle hacks lauded by social media influencers actually improving our quality of life? And at what point does the cure start to feel more like the problem itself?

I’d highly recommend this book to those interested in learning more about the wellness industry and its overlap with diet culture and feminist issues, or anyone who just wants to be a more discerning consumer with their hard-earned money.
