In general, the deep relaxation one experiences in association with therapeutic touch significantly reduces stress and anxiety, relieves pain, lowers blood pressure, and improves breathing and circulation. Therapeutic touch is thought to promote health and wellness through restoring harmony to a person’s energy fields…(Think about how the simple act of just having your hand held gives you an overall sense of calmness and reassurance). The word Benevolent literally means “desiring to do good for others…to be compassionate, supportive, and to show kindness”. As an RN, benevolence comes natural to me and is a core value I hold deeply. For 30 years I have practiced a unique blend of Benevolent Touch and Therapeutic Touch techniques with my patients and clients and have seen such positive results from this combination of therapies. We are living in such stressful times. Excessive stress, anxiety, and worry affects our mental health as well as our physical health by creating an unhealthy balance.
