Please keep Michigan and the surrounding states lifted up in prayer. Looks like we are in for a wild ride tonight. The blue dot is our farm.

We are safe so far. The storms have gone mostly north of us. Please pray for the people in Union City, Michigan. They were hit by a tornado that did hit houses. We have a big lineup of thunderstorms still incoming.

Here in Michigan, we are in a wonderful break in the weather that I call "False Spring". 😆 How are things where you guys are? Have you recovered from the winter storm? Our snow and ice is almost all melted off after several days of 40-60° temps.

I just updated the Parasite Formula Basics online class with a new section on Liver Fluke. The class is included with your purchase of the Parasite Formula. You can scan the QR Code on the label to enroll and access the class. The link to enroll is also in your order confirmation email so you can enroll and get access to the on demand style class right after you place your order. The Helpful Additions chapter is a great benefit to you while you wait for your order to arrive. :)

I'm catching up on sorting my email inbox, since it is so cold outside. In the process, I came across an email from a few months ago where a customer was sharing the benefits that she has seen from using Herbamins Powder for their herd. :)

How is everyone fairing so far? It got down to -12° F actual temp here in Michigan last night. I read that yesterday Ontario, Canada, was the coldest place on earth. What is the temp where you are?

Half of our country is bracing for a massive winter storm. Many people are concerned about their goats and livestock. This is what I have done to prepare for nasty weather for many years, even before I had our barn that we built in 2020. Before that, we had a 16x16 shelter that started out as a 16x8 lean to. I used that shelter for 15 years of goat ownership. Admittedly, our new barn makes things much easier, but we still do the same things to prepare for these storms:

1. DEEP bed with straw. It keeps them warm and cozy.

2. LOTS of hay to eat. Their rumen is an "internal heater", so feeding lots of hay is one of the best ways to keep them warm. We just put out a new round bale of hay for our does, and one for our bucks today.

3. Put canvas tarps over outside doors. This helps to hold the heat in, and also keeps good ventilation. This also allows your LGD (livestock guard dog) to go in and out as they need to to do their job and take care of their "personal business".

4. Provide fresh water. A heated bucket is a blessing in this type of weather, but if you don't have that available, you'll need to change buckets out if they freeze. Using warm water helps to cut down how often you have to change the buckets out to thaw them in the bathtub.

You can also provide herbs that help increase circulation. Ginger is a great one and it is an herb that many people may have on hand. You can make it into a tea and add it to their water bucket, or you can mix it into kelp (1/4 cup of ginger root powder into 1 pound of kelp is the ratio that should work well).

What else do you guys do to prepare for nasty winter weather? Let's help each other prep! :)
