Headaches are often triggered by dehydration. A useful guideline is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day. For example, if you weigh 100 lbs, you should drink 50 ounces of water throughout the day. Does that sound like a lot to you? You’re not alone, many people are chronically dehydrated.

If you struggle with drinking enough water, try this:
1. Use a water bottle that you know how much it holds, and calculate how many refills you need each day.
2. Create a schedule that makes it easier to consume throughout the day, so you don’t try to cram it in before bedtime. At that point, you are probably already dehydrated, and it could keep you up all night using the bathroom. Instead, you could have automated the time at which you drink from your water bottle. Maybe you drink an 8-12 oz glass of water after brushing your teeth in the morning, you could have a glass with every meal, or you drink half your water bottle on the drive to work. Figure out a routine that works for you, and you’ll start to notice that you feel better throughout the day.
3. If you have difficulty drinking water, you can try hydrating drinks like herbal tea or coconut water. The best source is always water, but other beverages hydrate. Stay away from too many caffeinated drinks, as they are diuretic and will exacerbate the situation. If you do drink a morning coffee, remember to drink extra water to compensate for that. Additionally, it’s best to stay clear of sugary drinks since sugar is also a well-known headache trigger.

Acupuncture helps with PTSD and C-PTSD by reducing sensitivity to pain and stress. It calms your autonomic nervous system, which causes your body to produce mood-regulating hormones and neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and GABA. Acupuncture does this by stimulating endogenous opioid production, leading to lower inflammation and a more relaxed state.

Our Story

Growing up in Malaysia, I was exposed to Western as well as Eastern Medicine treatment. I observed that one can complement the other to enhance health and wellness. My overall approach is one of duality which is reflected in my biochemistry and biomedicine research, and studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I specialize in pain management and can help patients reduce or eliminate their prescription medication dependency.
