“A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life.”

Mental health apps that aren’t evidence based, lack privacy protections, and lure users into more time online can do more harm than good.

"As ma*****na use among teens has grown in the past decade, researchers have been trying to better understand the health risks of the drug. Now, a new longitudinal study finds that cannabis use among adolescents increases risks of being diagnosed with bipolar and psychotic disorders, as well as anxiety and depression, years later."

I am disheartened and disgusted by the Supreme Court's decision. "Conversion therapy" is not supported by science and has been linked to significant negative outcomes. Decades of extensive research shows that "conversion therapy" is not only ineffective, but consistently associated with serious long-term harm, including higher rates of depression, anxiety, suicidality, substance overuse, posttraumatic stress responses, and reduced life satisfaction. It is not therapy, it is abuse.

From the American Psychological Association Monitor On Psychology's In Brief Section (March 2026, Vol. 57, No. 2, Print version: page 13), long-term partners who experience positive emotions together tend to have lower cortisol levels later in the day, indicating a decreased stress response.

"Shared positive emotions, shared stress relief

Spending time with a partner may boost a person’s emotional as well as physiological states, according to data from 642 older adults in Canada and Germany. The study, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, integrated data from three studies of adult couples (ages 56 to 89). The long-term partners tended to experience positive emotions more often when they were together than when they were apart. When they shared positive emotions, they tended to have lower levels of cortisol later that day, indicating a decreased stress response. The pattern did not differ by s*x, age, or relationship satisfaction. Although many studies have found links between positive emotion and physical health at the individual level, these findings indicate that shared positive emotions may have unique benefits. Additional research can illuminate whether these findings extend to younger couples and other types of close relationships, as well as over longer periods.
