A sunglasses collection born from the collaboration between VANNI, the historic brand of creative designer eyewear, and Oscalito, a fine weaver of high-quality knitwear.

Two Turin-based brands with a history deeply rooted in the region's industrial tradition, a commitment to creating beautiful, well-made products, designed and manufactured with care and love in Italian factories using certified raw materials, respecting people and nature. A shared worldview, in contrast to the practices of fast fashion in textiles and accessories: VANNI and Oscalito have developed a collection of eyewear that combines style and fashion, relying on a short, local, controlled, and ethical supply chain.

The collection stems from a raw material common to both brands: cotton. From cotton, Oscalito produces fine yarns used to create essential, elegant and comfortable garments, whilst VANNI produces the cellulose acetate used to make the eyewear.

Uncommon Eyewear’s is releasing four new frames that continue the evolution of the brand with premium fashion frames for men that include distinctive detailing. The designs carry forward signature elements such as double lines on the front or temples and see-through wire core trim details. One model marks a first for the collection, combining an acetate front with a metal bridge. Frames incorporate premium materials, including stainless steel, beta titanium, and acetate, along with metal plaque trim and enamel coating on select styles. Unique hinges developed specifically for the collection support thoughtful construction, while one model introduces a smaller 52 size in response to requests for reduced sizing. In addition, the collection added new colors that refresh best-selling styles.

On Earth Day, we all like to explore how we have and are impacting the environment of our world. In doing so, we do things a little differently. Some of us promise to bike to work a little more. Some of us vow to recycle more. Some of us might only make an effort to group our Amazon deliveries. Whatever each of us chooses to do, or not do, impacts our world and the future of our children and their children.

This article, however, is not meant to be a guilt trip on what any of us are doing to help or hurt our society or our planet. It is meant to hopefully elicit some thoughtful introspection and conversation.

As I travel to trade shows around the world, I speak with a lot of brands. I speak with a lot of designers. I speak with a lot of colleagues.
