Thomas J DuBois LMT NCTMB graduated from the Hudson Valley School of Massage Therapy in West Park, NY and specializes in Orthopedic massage as well as Active Isolated Stretching/ Strengthening. “My interest in massage was peaked while attending college in Nagpur, India. Massage has been practiced routinely in India for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of conditions and this was my first experience realizing the health benefits of regular massage.” Since graduating from HVSMT Thomas worked with Spas such as the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa in Kerhonkson, NY and the Woodhouse Day Spa in Middletown, NY. From 2006 to Summer 2012 Thomas provided orthopedic massage for Lonstein Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Ellenville, NY and from 2009 to August 2012 Thomas returned to the Hudson Valley School of Massage therapy as an instructor of Orthopedic Massage. In April of 2012 Thomas was grateful to receive permission from Aaron Mattes, the founder of the Active Isolated Stretching/ Strengthening technique to teach his Active Isolated Stretching/ Strengthening technique to the massage community as continuing education. “I believe that my success as a massage therapist comes from my belief in practicing what I preach. I believe in living a very healthy lifestyle so that I can be dynamic in my life and it is my passion to help my clientele to reach their healthiest possible state. I enjoy pinpointing a problem and helping my clients to realize their body’s own ability to eliminate that problem and reach its highest functioning potential.”

🌿 A Balanced Perspective on Pain Management and Surgery 🌿

In the natural healing community, there's often criticism directed at pain medications and surgeries. While it's true that these interventions can be overutilized, we must recognize that they can also serve as valuable tools in modern medicine.

Pain medications, when used appropriately, can be effective during the acute phase of an injury or post-surgery. However, it's essential to approach these medications with caution. They should generally be viewed as a temporary solution, as long-term use carries risks of addiction and diminishing effectiveness over time.

Similarly, while there are situations where surgery is essential, it’s crucial to consider that many surgeries for pain could be avoided through more conservative measures. I urge anyone facing a potential surgical procedure to consult with a qualified professional who has a proven track record in managing pain effectively. This can not only save you money but also spare your body from unnecessary trauma.

If surgery becomes unavoidable, entering the procedure having explored conservative options can significantly improve your recovery. A well-prepared approach enhances outcomes and streamlines rehabilitation.

For those who have already undergone surgery, it’s vital to continue focusing on functional exercises and corrective care. Your commitment to maintaining these changes will help ensure optimal recovery and long-term health.

If you feel your post-surgery progress isn’t quite where it should be, don’t lose hope. There are often additional strategies yet to be explored that can enhance your recovery and improve your quality of life.

Let’s prioritize a holistic approach that honors both modern medicine and natural healing. Together, we can navigate pain management with wisdom and intention. 💪✨
