Whatโs so special about this monthโs full Moon? ๐
Well,
๐ The Cold Moon will rise around sunset for several nights including, December 25, 26, and 27 - just in time for the holidays!
๐ With 98% illumination on December 25, this coincides with Christmas and Kwanzaa, which will not occur again until 2034!
๐ Decemberโs full Moon will be 100% illuminated on December 26, 7:33pm (EST).
๐ The Cold Moon is the first full Moon that occurs after the winter solstice and takes the highest path along the sky and is above the horizon longer than any other Moon - hence, why some people refer to it as the longest night!
๐ This Cold Moon is also known as the Frost Exploding Trees Moon for the sound that trees make when the temperatures drop rapidly, causing sap to freeze and expand until the bark bursts.
