The butterfly rests like it’s tired of flying,
its wings folded in careful silence.
I recognize that posture—
the art of looking fine while holding pain.

Time passes softly here,
leaving deeper spaces behind it.
No one notices the way absence expands,
how it learns the shape of my days.

I speak when expected, I smile on cue,
performing the version of myself that works.
Inside, something fragile leans inward,
trying not to show its cracks.

The ground holds the butterfly steady,
asking nothing of it.
I wish people understood
how much strength it takes to stay still.

Missing you isn’t dramatic; it’s constant.
It lives in pauses between words.
