Anything in your home can become a toy. It doesn’t have to be purchased at a toy store. Cups, plates pots pans, boxes, tape, couch cushions are always available and just as powerful. We can use these objects in creative ways and pair them with little figures and stuffed animals and have a great play experience that is rich in language .

This is not only the cutest video, but it also shows the beginning of dialoguing and an understanding of cause and effect. It is wonderful when a child connects with their voice and their sense of self.

In this lesson, we targeted morphology and parts of speech, which you can see on the left.

And on the right, we worked on cementing spellings by finding meaning in tricky or unstressed chunks. Here we are trying to remember how to spell “ron” so we created a funny story about a man running through the environment, and used the word run to assist in recalling the tricky chunk! It worked and it was fun!

So many goals addressed in this sweet activity. Here we targeted answering “Where” questions with prepositional phrases. We also worked on final consonants because this particular student omits them and we worked on story sequencing!
