JACKIE SHARP TO RETIRE FROM CENTERVILLE COMMUNITY BETTERMENT (CCBI)

In 1985, a girl from northern Iowa arrived in Centerville after college to begin a career in social services. Almost forty years later, Jackie Sharp, the Executive Director of Centerville Community Betterment (CCBI) for the last thirty years, is retiring at the end of the year, leaving with many accomplishments. When asked what she is most proud of in her career, she doesn't discuss growth or financial stability but how CCBI serves Appanoose County. "We are the preferred provider due to excellence in care exhibited through our state surveys and CARF accreditation," she said. We stay client-focused, and by doing that, other indicators of success, like staffing and finances, evolve around that," she added.

After years of leading the organization through the challenges of ever-changing state funding and ongoing compliance with over 500 state regulations, the organization reached a pinnacle of success the past year when they consolidated their operations in a new facility, the former Aldi building on South Main St. Sharp lead the initiative to acquire the facility, wrote a successful grant that funded much of the renovation and led the design-build process working with the architect and contractors. She believes CCBI is positioned to move forward successfully into the future.

Sharp will be honored with a retirement party on Friday, December 13, from 1:30 -3:00 at Centerville Community Betterment, 215 S. Main St. in Centerville.
