A very common phrase I hear from people....

After hiking The Grand Canyon last fall we knew we needed to get our kids back to do it. So with some of their cousins and Grandpa we got to do it last week.

I’m convinced the quicker our kids learn what their bodies are capable of the better off they will be in life.

They watched their grandpa go from the ER 2 days before the hike with kidney stones to severe stomach distress the day before to hiking 25 miles in the heat of the day and pushing through unimaginable fatigue.

What an incredible example of mind over matter.

The kids encouraged each other and didn’t complain. And conquered that hike in less than 10 hours.

And even agreed to wake up the next day and hike all the way back…..for a cool $500 😂😂

Our bodies are amazing! If we treat them right they will take us to incredible adventures.

I often hear people say. I'm just an all or nothing type of person.

But if I'm being honest, that mindset is a copout.

You don't need to be an all or nothing person.

It's not helpful to you.

The person that you want to be is an "always something person"

Instead of I don't have an hour to work out today so I'm not going to exercise person.

Be a I'm going to do a 20 minute workout today and that's better than a zero minute workout person.

Instead of a I blew my diet today on those 3 donuts so I'm not going to try the rest of the day, or week person.

Be a I ate three donuts and now I'm still going to eat my greens for the rest of the day person.

Waiting for the stars to align, for your motivation to be high, for your decisions to be perfect will never get you to where you want to be.

Showing up as much as you can every day will get you much farther in life.

Its just that our society has prioritized convenience and ease over health and well being.

From the rise of fast food culture to the prevalence of sedentary lifestyles fueled by cars and technology.

Processed, packaged foods loaded with sugar, salt, and preservatives line the shelves of grocery stores, while drive-thru windows beckon us with promises of instant gratification.

It's no wonder that obesity rates continue to climb, with devastating consequences for our health and well-being.

I can't tell you how many times I have a client come in to test after a few months in our program.

and this happens

Their V02 improves ✔
Their fitness improves ✔
Their strength improves ✔
Their pain improves ✔

They tell me stories of how they are doing things they haven't done in a long time
Running around with grandkids
PRing on a race
Moving around with ease and energy

and then.......the weight scale

bum bum bum

Down a few pounds
Up a few pounds
The same

And all of the sudden, all of those things that they were so excited about become non existent

The only thing that matters to them is that weight on the scale

It's the worst.

So here is your reminder

Weight on the scale is JUST a number, it doesn't tell the whole story

But those things you are doing that you couldn't do before

Those goals you are achieving

The memories you are making

THAT IS WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT

Our Story

At Body Smart we help runners, cyclists, triathletes and active people avoid injury and training mistakes to maximize their performance and stay on the road, while staying off pills and out of their physician’s office. Often we hear that people have waited months or even years to come in, but when they do, they are relieved that they’ve been able to make the right decision for their situation. If you’re someone who is motivated to succeed then you have come to the right place. One of the reasons we exist is to help people who feel stuck right now. You may be unsure of what to do. You have maybe tried other physicians, PT clinics, chiropractors and massage therapists before and it just didn’t go as well as you’d hoped or expected. Can you relate? If that sounds like you, you’re not alone – we hear your story daily. People who come to see us often:
