Happy American Heart Month ❤️ February is a time for our nation to focus on cardiovascular health and an opportunity for all of us to encourage and motivate people to adopt heart-healthy behaviors. We want to share things that you can do to help promote a healthy heart!
• Get your body moving! Squat it out. Do 1 minute of squats
• Schedule your annual physical
• Plan your weekly menu ahead of time with heart healthy recipes
• Swap the sweets for a piece of fruit
• Get a full 8 hours of sleep

AMR Linn County has important suggestions for avoiding, recognizing and treating two deadly cold-related illnesses: hypothermia and frostbite.
Both conditions occur even in areas known for warm weather and can be caused by wind chill and exposure to snow or wet conditions.
• Wear a stocking cap – 40 percent of body heat escapes through the scalp
• Wear mittens – they keep hands warmer than gloves
• Remove any clothing that gets wet as soon as possible
• Check on older adults frequently because age and some medications alter the body’s ability to sense and adapt to temperature changes
