The prevalence of autism has increased significantly over the past two decades. While this increase may be largely attributed to broader diagnostic criteria and an increase in overall awareness of autism, it nonetheless means there has never been a greater need to gain a better understanding of this condition that affects so many.

That’s why our Cincinnati Children's Clinical Research Studies team is building a research community of families and individuals with autism, where participants will be asked to share information that will advance our understanding and help fuel groundbreaking autism research. Our Proton Therapy Center delivers the most advanced form of radiation therapy available—destroying cancer while minimizing damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. We were one of the first pediatric hospitals in the world to open our own proton therapy center, allowing us to treat patients from all over. Our team is full of doctors and caregivers specifically trained in pediatric cancers, which makes a difference for children and young adults. We also eliminate the burden of traveling by ambulance or medical support between an inpatient hospital setting and a proton therapy center—one of the few programs in the world with this setup. We’re proud to highlight them as this week’s ! Learn more about our expertise at the link in the comments.

Josie is a brave little fighter wrapped in strawberry blankets and strength.

She entered the world as a sweet, happy and easy baby. But at just three months old, her journey took a difficult turn. She battled severe dehydration, and then RSV and pneumonia, which turned into a weeklong hospital stay. Then the flu hit. Josie vomited blood and was rushed to the emergency room. Her blood counts were critical, so she was immediately transferred to the ICU.

Josie spent several weeks in the hospital before being diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), a very rare and aggressive type of blood cancer that affects young children. She has been receiving chemotherapy since then, and now at a year old, she’s spent almost as much time in the hospital as she has at home. But through it all, she is thriving and always smiling!

Thanks to her care team here at Cincinnati Children’s, Josie is growing stronger every day.

When chemotherapy or transplant doesn’t work, CAR T-cell therapy might be an option for some patients. This therapy makes it easier for T cells to find cancerous cells hiding in the body, by modifying a patient’s own T cells to identify and attack them. We offer CAR T-cell therapy for B-cell blood cancers through FDA-approved therapies, and we’re one of the most experienced centers for providing this type of therapy. Learn more about what to expect at the link in the comments.

At just 3 weeks old, Logan’s life—and his family’s—changed forever. A blood clot on his brain resulted in several seizures and ultimately two strokes, just days apart. Shea and Ken didn’t know if they would get to bring their baby home. But thanks to the incredible care and support of our experts, Logan left the hospital after nearly six weeks, ready to begin his journey of resilience.

Today, he's a joyful 5th grader who loves school, adores people, and can’t stop smiling. Every day, his family is grateful for the expertise and compassion that Cincinnati Children’s provided when they needed it most. That gratitude inspires them to give back, year after year.

This is Logan’s family’s 12th year participating in Cincinnati Walks for Kids. They walk to celebrate Logan, and for countless other children who need hope and healing.

You can join Logan and his family in supporting Cincinnati Walks for Kids. Your generosity helps ensure that more families have access to the life-saving care they deserve. Together, we can make a difference—one step at a time.

It's not too late to register. Just head to the link in the comments, and we'll see you on Sunday!
