It’s been a hard week at Alderwood. We said goodbye to George.
George was much more than a resident of Alderwood—he was a teacher, a leader, and a daily reminder of why we chose this work.
He carried himself with dignity, humility, and quiet strength. His presence inspired us. Whether it was through his stories of service, his words of encouragement, or simply the way he greeted people with kindness, George reminded us that our work is not just about providing care—it’s about building relationships, honoring lives, and walking alongside people who have so much wisdom and character to share.
He showed us that the values of service, resilience, and love do not fade with time. They grow stronger. And in caring for George, we were reminded of the privilege of this calling: to create a home where people are valued, respected, and remembered.
To all of us at Alderwood, George was family. His memory will continue to guide us, reminding us that what we do matters—not only for the lives of those we serve, but also for the way it shapes our own hearts.
A heartfelt thanks to all of you who reminded George of his purpose and made him feel special during his 100th birthday celebration. He hated all the attention, but he loved all the attention! Most of all: Thank you, George, for reminding us of OUR purpose. We will miss you, but your legacy will stay with us always. ❤️
