Veteran Coalition of Central Arizona VCCA

Veteran Coalition of Central Arizona VCCA Our goal is to ensure that Veterans know who to reach out to and how to obtain the services they need

The Veterans Coalition of Central Arizona (VCCA) is a Veteran-centric organization whose mission is to educate Veterans, their families, and members of the community about Veteran suicide; what to look for, how to ask about, and the next steps to prevent a suicide. We provide training using the proven QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) method to detect and respond to anyone emitting suicide warning signs. The training is offered free of charge (call 619-889-6724 if your organization is interested in receiving the training).

If you didn't know, having a pet to care for can significantly impact your mental health in a positive wonderful way. There is evidence that having an animal to care for and be responsible for can do much to reduce Veteran su***de.

The VCCA will cover adoption fees for every eligible Veteran [honorable / under honorable conditions (aka general) discharge)] and up to $300.00 in veterinarian fees. We are associated with K9 Konnection in Wickenburg and PeteysPlayground in Yarnell.

Labradors were brought to the D.C. headquarters of the Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday to raise awareness of the role of canine companionship in mental health care.

Please see the article below. Part of the VCCA's mission is to financially assist any qualified Veteran (DD-214 and/or VA ID) or active duty service member with adopting a pet.

The VCCA's primary mission is to help prevent Veteran su***de. There is evidence that having a pet at home can do much to keep a Veteran or active duty member from taking that final step.

If you would like to learn more about the VCCA and the services we offer send an email to 217PVFD@gmail.com or post a question on the VCCA page.

Looking to adopt a new pet? National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, which is coming up on April 30, is a perfect day to get it done.

Scott and I just donated $11.00 monthly to Tunnels 2 Towers. I’m not sure why it took us so long to do this.

You may or may not know that the VCCA will cover pet adoption costs for every qualified Veteran or active duty service member. We have partnered with Petey's Playground in Yarnell and K9 Konnection in Wickenburg where you may adopt your newest best friend.

That being said, if you find a pet at another facility just have them call the VCCA at 619-889-6724 so we can work with that facility to make the adoption happen.

Here are photos of some veterans the VCCA assisted in getting new four-legged family members. The VCCA happily assist with adoption fees for verified Veterans or active duty folks; we partner with K-9 Connection in Wickenburg and Petey’s Playground in Yarnell.

Meet Robert, USMC Veteran, and his new best friend, Maverick.

The VCCA is honored to be able to assist in Veterans in getting a four-legged companion. We are partnered with K-9 Connection in Wickenburg, and Petey’s’s Playground in Yarnell. I am the blessed board member to be present at these adoptions.

A big shout out to Paul, Minich, K-9 Connection, and Kim Lytle, Petey’s Playground , for their support of our program, and the incredible love they have for every animal that they rescue.
