Mike Frazier, 88, of Centralia
Mr. Frazier served in the United States Navy as a radioman. Mike was the friendly face and welcoming hello to all on his mail routes, while working as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Centralia for twenty five years, until his retirement. He was a proud, faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Centralia, where he shared his beautiful singing voice in the in the traveling Homecoming Gospel Choir. Mike was an extremely active member of his home church, serving in VBS, directing the church choir and custodian. He also kept the lawn immaculate for the church and enjoyed putting up encouraging words on the marquee for motorists passing by on Elm Street. Mike was definitely always at ease engaging in conversation with friends, family and strangers alike. Mike was an avid golfer, looking forward to golf leagues at Colonial Golf Course in Sandoval and winning two golden putters. He loved a good bowl of ice cream and taking Peanut for walks around the neighborhood, probably finding someone to chit chat with along the way. Mike loved his children, looking forward to visits with them grateful for the time to catch up. Not one to sit idlily by, Mike filled his days with purpose, hoping to lend a hand to someone in need and brighten their day with his positive energy.

Iva Irene Saddler, 98, of Centralia
Sweet Irene fell in love with the art of learning at a young age. Her need to share this passion for education benefitted her immensely during her dedicated years of shaping young minds toward a promising future. Before her retirement, Irene was a beloved First Grade teacher at Patoka Grade School for 30 wonderful years, and her students remembered her intellect, wit and nurturing nature well into their adulthood.

She was a lady of great faith, a true reflection of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Irene was committed to share her gift of encouragement with all her grateful church family at Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia, where she was a member. She expressed her love for everyone with her dedicated ministry of remembering and sending cards for every special occasion.

The beauty of Branson, Missouri captivated her heart, and she was thankful to call this area home for a valued season of her life. Irene and her husband, Beach loved to go on adventures together while traveling. An avid reader, she consumed books, always searching for an Amish, mystery or romance book to read. Irene cherished her years raising her family and was so proud to be her grandkids “Grandma McG” who could watch her grandchildren grow into beautiful, compassionate adults. Her grand dogs loved her as much as she loved giving them unconditional love.

Irene enveloped the spirit of perseverance, was always kind, and considerate of others, and loved her family deeply. Her family and friends are honored to continue her life of dedication to serve others with grace and love, living their lives by her example.

✨ Honoring Traditions, Embracing New Services ✨

At ⚜Macz Funeral Homes,⚜ we are proud to celebrate both the traditions that bring our community together and the new services that provide families with meaningful options for the future.

This week, we were honored to host our Pastoral Luncheon at The Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce — a beloved tradition we are grateful to restore during Pastor Appreciation Month. It was a wonderful afternoon of fellowship, homemade food, and connection among pastors and church leaders across our community.

🌾🌻
Seperatly, we are excited to share even more about one of our newer services, terramation, a gentle, eco-friendly alternative to burial and cremation. While not yet legal in Illinois, we have partnered with a reputable out-of-state provider to make this service available for families who wish to choose this green option.🌻🌾

Macz Funeral Homes is celebrating former traditions while embracing new services in 2025. The funeral home has introduced a new, eco-friendly burial alternative for clients, while restoring one of its former community events - a pastoral luncheon for local church officials. The lunch was held Wedn

Robert “Bob” Mansker, 84, of Odin, IL
Bob worked as an operator for 40 years, a member of the Operating Engineers Local 520. His years as an operator had him working on projects in Illinois and California, dependent upon the season. Bob often shared stories of and was proud of his contribution in the construction of Murphy Stadium in California. He was a risk taker and really loved playing slots, looking forward to winning. Lady luck was good to Bob and his wife, Barb when they would spend a night out gambling at the boat. He and Barb also found value in searching for treasures while out junking and attending auctions.

Riley Logan Barker has “left the building.” He went away mid-morning on Friday, August 29th, in his home while riding his exercise bike. His family and friends are bereft. They are missing his boisterous, full-hearted laugh, his joyful kidding, his genuine listening, his always showing up whenever needed. He lived large all his life.

Dorothy lived in Eastern Clinton County and later moved to Huey, next to the Spindler family, unaware she would marry the boy next door, her husband Bill. She was a faithful member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle and of AFSCME of the state of Illinois. Dorothy was a loyal employee of Warren G. Murray Center for twenty-three years in the dietary department. In more recent years, Dorothy found quiet times to nurture her beautiful flower gardens, marveling at the colors and beauty they brought to her yard. She liked the challenge of a good word search and looked forward to playing Bingo. Dorothy kept her eye out for cardinals and hummingbirds to add to her collections, and everyone thought of her when they would catch a glimpse of these birds. She shared her talent for crocheting and making quilts with grateful family and friends. Dorothy was diligent to be a loving, guiding presence in her granddaughter, Jessica’s life, and was so proud to be her Grandma. Days spent enjoying each other’s company and playing games are some of the most favorite memories that Dorothy’s family will cherish, and they will forever be thankful for the time spent together.
