Rebecca β€œBecky” A. Zimmerman, 79, of Vernon
Becky was a former office specialist at Murray Center for 33 years, having retired in 2002. Becky passed away leaving behind memories that reflect a life uniquely her own. Outside of her work she could easily be found getting lost in the pages of a good book or listening to her favorite band play music. She had a deep affection for animals and especially cats. She shared her home with her beloved feline companions and had a soft heart for any strays in need. Her home became a safe haven for many over the years. Becky will be remembered for independence, the quiet ways she connected with those around her, and the care she gave for those who cannot care for themselves.

William Dean β€œBill” Hill, 94, of Patoka
Mr. Hill was a United States Army veteran, serving his country with honor and pride in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the Patoka American Legion Post #543 and past executive board member. Bill was a man of strong faith and attended the Patoka United Methodist Church and the Patoka Christian Church, where he shared his Lord’s perfect love, alongside his wife Lois. He provided for his family by working at Lear Siegler in Centralia as a fabricator, as a parts manager at Lange Equipment in Patoka, and as a bank courier after his retirement.

Bill was extremely talented in many things. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop making showroom worthy projects. He painted portraits and landscapes on canvas and was a founding member of the Centralia Palette and Brush Club (now known as the Centralia Cultural Society). He loved being outside mowing his yard and working in his large garden. He religiously kept his cars clean. Over the years, he barely missed a school or sporting event that his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were involved in. He was their biggest fan!

Bill had an easy, welcoming way with everyone, putting all at ease with his quick wit. Bill was gentle, kind and well respected. Bill’s life was a wonderful example and inspiration to his family.

Wayne Kelly β€œStrawberry” Sides, 70, of Patoka
Strawberry worked as a union laborer, adding up many days of hard work by the end of his career. He was proud to have been a loyal employee of Foltz Welding until his retirement. Strawberry was a help to all, pitching in during planting and harvest season for the area farmers and offering a helping hand to anyone else in need. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, joining in 1993 the Patoka Masonic Lodge. Strawberry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to take his boat out on the water to see what fish might be biting. Strawberry appreciated the simple things in life, family, friends, hard work and a good day spent outdoors. He was generous, reliable and friendly to all. Strawberry will be deeply missed and his wonderful way of putting others first will never be forgotten.

Mary Mae Auxier, 89, of Centralia
Mary was of the Baptist faith. She was a loyal employee of Warren G. Murray Center from the time of their opening in 1964 until her much deserved retirement in 1989. Mary was always active and could be found beautifying her yard and caring for her flowers. She was a thrift shopper who had the uncanny ability to scope out the best sales. Mary was an excellent dancer and loved to spin around the dance floor with her husband, Don. She looked forward to spending winters in Florida, where she and Don made lasting friendships. Mary was a faithful friend, appreciative of the time spent together with her fellow members of the Boot Scooters and Red Hat Society. Above all else that life had to offer, Mary placed her family first, loving them and supporting them all. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Michael Dale Mansker, 79, of Salem
Michael was loved and supported by his family, and he brought them many wonderful memories of fun times spent together. He was always ready to make everyone laugh and he enjoyed having fun. Michael loved to watch Bonanza to see what kind of adventures the Cartwrights were getting into. He also enjoyed watching western movies with his brother. Michael had a deep interest in the weather, looking to see what kind of day could be expected. He loved to eat a good meal, especially his favorite dish, fried chicken. Michael was loved and appreciated by all his family, and they will miss his kind heart.

Louis Dean Manns
Dean will be remembered most for his love of baseball and golf. He was 7 years old when he sent away for a Lifetime Chicago Cub Fan Card, which we still have. After graduating from Centralia High School in 1947, Dean joined the Chicago Cubs’ minor league organization formed in Centralia. He played for the next five years in the KOM League and travelled to many cities to play ball.

Kathryn Joann Lipe, 69, of Richview
Kathryn was a beautiful lady that always saw the best in people. She was quick to truly listen, not trying to fix what might feel broken, but sitting and lovingly supporting without judgement. Kathryn was a most amazing Mom who could not have been more proud of the adults her children had become. She was a woman of faith, serving at Crossroads Church in Centralia, where she helped with bookkeeping and was available for any other need. Balloon Fest was a favorite activity, where she enjoyed crafts, balloons, and the variety of food. Kathryn had a green thumb when it came to her roses, and she was an avid reader. She loved horses and liked to watch the horse races, cheering for her pick to win. Kathryn’s heart was full of love for her grandchildren. She supported them at their sporting events, and she loved to give them gifts she had crocheted. Kathryn was loyal, kind, had a good sense of humor and simply made the world a better place. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
