I love the Fourth of July (Maverick does not) 🇺🇸🧨

It can be so hard, though, because we used to spend this holiday with our family. One of my favorite memories is sitting on the dock watching the fireworks with my Grandpa Harv and lighting off those silly pooping chickens. Another memory I loved was writing our names with sparklers with my Aunt Tiffani. My Grandpa Ferrell and Grandma Nancy would usually spend the Fourth of July with us, too. How special it was to have all four grandparents together!

The point of my post is, love the present moment, enjoy today, but it’s also okay to be sad and grieve for what holidays used to be - it's the memories that are so dang special.

I’ve wanted to start a Mom Group for a long time. I felt scared to start it because I’m not a mom, and I’ve never experienced the challenges that my friends and clients who are mommas have.

I feel like this is bigger than my fears after listening to clients and friends. I want to hold a safe space for moms and their babies (if they’re here with us on earth but also mommas have lost their babies), moms who have postpartum depression, moms want their baby to socialize more, to normalize the challenges of motherhood, women experiencing the loss of a child due to a miscarriage, postpartum anxiety, and so much more.

Please reach out if you have been yearning for a group like this! I’m excited to hold this space for a therapeutic group and create a beautiful opportunity for community.

What Maverick looks like checking in to see if you’re sticking to your boundaries 👀

My clients always teach me so much, and boundaries were a big topic this week.

Here are some reminders I want to share:

- By setting boundaries, you’re also helping your relationships. You set the standard for how others treat you, and boundaries clarify what is okay and what isn’t.

- Boundaries set a precedent for how others should support you and will show you who truly respects you.

- Your feelings are always valid, and so are your boundaries, no matter what anyone says.

- You do not have to shrink yourself to make others comfortable. Be your wholehearted and genuine self.

- If someone tells you you’re being too much, are they projecting because they don’t feel like they’re enough?

- You are the only person you will be with for the rest of your life. Prioritize that relationship with yourself just as you would with a partner or a best friend.

Keep showing up for yourself. Keep being proud of who you are.

You are enough.
