Please join us in welcoming Bonnie Beckstrom to the Inspirit Team! She will be available to see clients on May 15th in Chadron!
Bonnie was born in Germany and grew up in Serbia before moving to the United States as a
child, where she became an American citizen. She spent her childhood in Colorado with her
mother and sister. Growing up, Bonnie saw firsthand the challenges single mothers and their
children face. As a teenager, she joined a social services program, became a peer counselor,
and worked with other young women. This experience inspired her to dedicate her life to
helping individuals and families improve their lives.
Bonnie attended the University of Northern Colorado, where she earned her undergraduate
degree in Vocational Counseling. She then worked with autistic children, a role she enjoyed, but
she also wanted to support other groups. Bonnie went back to school and earned a Master of
Arts in Community Counseling from Chadron State College. During her master’s program, she
worked in substance abuse counseling. She also has experience helping people who have faced
trauma, anxiety, gender dysphoria, grief, and family separation.
Bonnie has worked with people experiencing poverty and has created community programs to
help prevent homelessness. In 2024, she received the Lions Club Melvin Jones Award for her
outstanding community service. This is the highest honor given to a Lions Club member.
Bonnie uses several approaches in her mental health counseling, such as Solution Focused,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered, and Internal Family Systems. She regularly
attends training to keep her skills up to date. Bonnie is dedicated to her clients and always puts
their well-being first.
In her free time, Bonnie enjoys trying new and challenging recipes in the kitchen, as cooking is
one of her passions. She also loves spending time outdoors, hiking in national parks, and
traveling. Bonnie values time with her family and pets.
