Did you know that today marks the start of Clutter Awareness Week? Were you also aware that there are specific differences between collecting, clutter, and hoarding?

Clutter Awareness Week was created to encourage people to get rid of the unwanted things that complicate their lives. Clutter can be either mental or physical. Getting rid of "clutter" can involve avoiding negative people and habits, and also donating, recycling, and selling unnecessary items around your home or workplace.

Regardless of the type of clutter, it has a way of consuming time, reducing productivity, and hampering our ability to live a calm and happy life. A cluttered life can lead to constant fatigue and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or hoarding disorder.

As a mental health practice, our licensed therapists are trained in treating all kinds of mental clutter and some have specific expertise in treating physical clutter, such as Tamar Cooper LISW-S, who is an expert on hoarding disorder.

To inquire about current availability with our clinicians, call our Chagrin Falls office at (440) 708-0188 or our Hudson office at (234) 269-6200. You can also submit our online intake form here: https://bit.ly/New-Client-Intake-Inquiry

You have the most control over the "should" statements you tell yourself which you can start to mitigate using the tips below! ⬇️ As for "should" statements coming from others, a licensed therapist can help you find ways to navigate these relationships, set boundaries, and advocate for yourself. ❤️

Did you know today is National Panic Day? 😨

What some may call an "anxiety attack" might actually be symptoms of an anxiety disorder or panic attack. Also, there are differences between the anxiety you might feel on a daily basis versus a full-blown panic attack, even if your general anxiety seems severe. Meeting with a licensed therapist is a great start for figuring out a plan to reduce the effects of anxiety in your life. You can discuss your symptoms and triggers with a trained professional and they can help you come up with the coping strategies that work best for you.

To inquire about current availability with our clinicians who have expertise in treating anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, call our Chagrin Falls office at (440) 708-0188 or our Hudson office at (234) 269-6200. Did you know that not all traumatic events experienced during childhood result in PTSD? Sometimes, the child may have a certain temperament or a strong support network that may buffer some of the effects of trauma.

Other times, the result of childhood trauma could be other mental health conditions or it might not result in a diagnosable condition at all. Even so, a traumatic childhood event might continue to have a lasting negative impact on your life in ways you didn't realize. The effects can be subtle, for example, staying at a job you hate. Deep down, this choice might be due to self-doubt as a result of the trauma you experienced.

A trauma-informed therapist can help you analyze your life to determine in what ways childhood trauma may still be adversely affecting you and they can also help you come up with ways to overcome it if that is one of your goals.

To inquire about current availability with our clinicians equipped to treat childhood trauma, call our Chagrin Falls office at (440) 708-0188 or our Hudson office at (234) 269-6200. You can also submit our online intake form here: https://bit.ly/New-Client-Intake-Inquiry
