Hoarding disorder can affect someone's well-being in many different ways. It can start out less severe by affecting one's personal & professional relationships and their ability to easily maneuver around their house, but it can eventually escalate into quite a serious mental health disorder by impacting daily living conditions or creating significant health & safety risks for residents and visitors.

To inquire about current availability with our clinicians who treat hoarding disorder, call our Chagrin Falls office at (440) 708-0188 or our Hudson office at (234) 269-6200. You can also submit our online intake form here: https://bit.ly/New-Client-Intake-Inquiry.

"My approach to therapy is holistic, eclectic, and spiritualistic as I seek to increase self-awareness by helping to identify the connection between brain, emotions, and the physical self. My goal is to empower clients through building on strengths, resilience, letting go of the past, and gaining a better understanding on the use of strategies to aid in grounding, mindfulness, and increasing self-worth." -- Diane Maytas, LPCC-S

Diane earned her master's degree in counseling and art therapy from Ursuline College. In addition to her professional clinical counseling license, she is also licensed in art therapy and as an educator in the state of Ohio. She is certified in EMDR, hypnotherapy, and Heart Math.

Diane specializes in treating anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, stress, women’s issues, divorce/separation/relationship issues, phase of life, sexuality, grief, and many other topics.

She offers in-person appointments at our Hudson office, as well as virtual appointments.

To inquire about current availability for Diane or any of our other clinicians, call our Chagrin Falls office at (440) 708-0188 or our Hudson office at (234) 269-6200. You can also submit our online intake form here: https://bit.ly/New-Client-Intake-Inquiry

Did you know that January is Self-Love Month? In wrapping up this month, start a new habit to take a moment each day to acknowledge what you appreciate about yourself. ❤️ Speak to yourself as though you were complimenting a friend. If it’s difficult at first, reach out to a loved one and ask what they love about you.

Building and maintaining self-esteem is a skill that comes with practice. You can develop awareness for recognizing opportunities to practice self love and be intentional with your mindset. When working on your goals for this year, start by ensuring those goals are manageable and realistic, and remember to give yourself grace and celebrate your wins, no matter how small. 🏆

Regardless of achievements or productivity, take time to love and appreciate yourself for exactly who you are right now. Practice accepting all of yourself with compassion and without judgement. Saying or writing something you love about yourself each day is a great place to start. 🌱

We previously explored some of the many reasons why someone might develop a hoarding disorder, everything from physical health conditions that make it difficult to maintain a clean space to comorbidity with other mental health conditions, as well as other risk factors, such as certain personality traits, stressful life events, and certain habits.

Hoarding disorder may also be associated with strongly held beliefs like the examples below when it comes to acquiring and discarding items, as well as intense emotional attachment and reactivity. Continuing to let these beliefs and emotions control one's actions will prolong the hoarding disorder. This is why cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the effective types of talk therapy for treating hoarding disorder.

To inquire about current availability with our clinicians who treat hoarding disorder, call our Chagrin Falls office at (440) 708-0188 or our Hudson office at (234) 269-6200. You can also submit our online intake form here: https://bit.ly/New-Client-Intake-Inquiry.
