✅ Good Candidates for LASIK:

Stable Vision: Your prescription should be stable for at least 12 months before surgery.

Healthy Eyes: No active eye infections, injuries, or conditions like severe dry eye syndrome.

Sufficient Corneal Thickness: LASIK reshapes the cornea, so it must be thick enough for safe correction.

Mild to Moderate Refractive Errors: Best suited for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism within specific ranges.

Overall Good Health: No uncontrolled autoimmune diseases (like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis) or conditions affecting healing (like diabetes if poorly controlled).

❌ Who May NOT Be a Good Candidate?

Thin or Irregular Corneas: If your corneas are too thin, LASIK could cause complications.

Severe Dry Eyes: LASIK may worsen dryness, though newer techniques can minimize this.

Extreme Prescriptions: Those with very high myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism may not get optimal results.

Pregnant or Nursing Women: Hormonal changes can temporarily alter vision, so LASIK should be postponed.

High risk? More often!

Eye exams aren't just for when you can't see clearly! Regular eye checkups can detect early signs of diseases like glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration.

Correct! An eye exam can reveal signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and even brain tumors before symptoms appear. Adults should get their eyes checked every 1–2 years or more frequently if they have risk factors.

02/23/2025

Yes! Prolonged screen time leads to symptoms like dry eyes, headaches, and blurry vision. Following the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds) can help reduce strain.
