The IKA Keratoconus Symposium last weekend was one of the best KC meetings around.
Updated technology and studies that were not available when I was in school or early practice, make this field so exciting for both patients and Drs alike.
Optometry Times found me for an "on the fly" interview. (Remind me to smile more....lol)

Two weeks ago, I had the honor of representing B & L/ Alden for the beginning lecture at the ISCS meeting in Ft Lauderdale.... and conducting a hands-on workshop teaching the many docs about the Zenlens Scleral lens.

Scleral Lens Society Statement:

In the eyecare industry, online portals to dispense contact lenses is becoming an increasing problem and the scleral lens does not escape this risk. Recently there has been some confusion regarding the appropriateness of online management of scleral lenses.

The Scleral Lens Education Society firmly believes that scleral lenses must be fit by a practitioner, in the practice, and with proper diagnostic equipment. Scleral lenses cannot be fit based off manifest refraction and keratometry values alone.

FDA grants orphan drug status to eye drop treatment for Keratoconus... clinical development begins in 2018.
