Want to support their fine motor skills, core strength, attention, and all the skills they’ll need later in life?

The best thing you can do right now is put your expectations aside and LET 👏 THEM 👏 HELP 👏

The best learning doesn’t come from a special toy—it comes from your everyday routines.

And trust me, I get it… it can be so frustrating. Sometimes you really do just need to get out the door. And sometimes your patience left the house at 8AM. But taking a second to pause and ask, “Is this really going to derail our whole afternoon?” can change everything.

When they help, they’re not just “helping”—they’re building strength, coordination, focus, confidence, and nervous system regulation… all at the same time 💪✨

🗣️Just because you have pelvic floor symptoms, doesn’t mean you have a weak pelvic floor.

And just because you have dysfunction at the pelvic floor, doesn’t mean it can always be fixed only looking at the pelvic floor.

🔍Overtime, through consistent habits and postures, our body learns to compensate. Without identifying those compensations, the symptom carousel will continue on.

If you feel like you’re stuck in a loop with your pelvic floor symptoms, it may be time to give us a call!

Welcome 🤝😅

At Lafrance PPH we know all too well that an extensive home exercise program just isn’t going to happen. We barely have time to shower by ourselves.

💪🏼So let’s take the same strategies and incorporate them into your day to day routine. We’re here to help you get better not give you more on your plate to do.

If this sounds like you feel free to give us a discovery call to learn more!

Breathing might be the most important skill we never get taught.

Before kids learn to p**p.
Before athletes lift heavy.
Before moms push during birth.

The way we breathe matters.
Body awareness matters.

When we hold our breath and push (closed glottis), pressure drives down and the pelvic floor braces.

😮‍💨 When we breathe in and let the belly fill, then slowly exhale (open glottis), the diaphragm and pelvic floor can coordinate the way they were designed to.

This is why breathing shows up everywhere in pelvic floor therapy — from kids learning to p**p to moms preparing for labor.

Sometimes the most powerful tools are the simplest ones. 💛

P**p struggles? Start here. 💩

These 3 simple exercises can help support gut motility, core strength, and the muscles kids and adults use for p**ping. They’re a great starting point to help the body get things moving. 👏

If constipation keeps popping up though, it’s often more than just movement—things like sensory processing, pressure control, retained primitive reflexes, coordination, or withholding patterns can play a role too.

If you or your child are stuck in the constipation cycle and medication isn’t cutting it, a discovery call can help figure out what else might be going on.

Modern toilets changed our posture — and that changes how our pelvic floor functions. Follow along tomorrow for simple toileting strategies for you and your kids. 🚽

💩Constipation in kids can quietly show up as meltdowns, p*e accidents, belly pain, picky eating, poor sleep, and even potty refusal—so if something feels “off,” it’s worth looking deeper.

👆This can be true for adults as well! Gut health impacts the whole body system and sometimes those bladder leaks or back pains can be directly related to your bowels!

If this sounds like you or your child, book a discovery call and we can see if our services are right for you!

Stay with me this week as we talk everything p**p! 💩

If you tried this at home did you notice any:
👉 elbows bending
👉 hips rocking back toward heels
👉 collapsing through the core

That can be a sign of a retained STNR (Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex).

This is just one of the ways we can test for retained reflexes. This specific reflex helps babies crawl…

But if it doesn’t integrate, it can show up later as:
• Slouching at a desk
• Wiggly sitting
• Poor coordination
• Weak core
• Easily fatigued

And here’s the connection no one talks about 👇

Your child needs core stability to properly relax AND contract their pelvic floor.

If that system isn’t well integrated, you might see:
🚩 Trouble fully emptying
🚩 Withholding
🚩 Accidents
🚩 Constipation patterns

Not defiance.
Not laziness.
Not “they’re just not ready.”

Sometimes it’s a reflex that needs support. 💛

The body has to feel stable before it can let go. And that, my friends- is our bread and butter. 💛

If this sounds like your kiddo- book a discovery call or consult to learn more!

My last post sparked so many questions about crawling, retained reflexes, constipation, and potty training…
So let’s talk about it! 🤍

🧠Primitive reflexes are a normal part of early development, but as kids grow, these reflexes integrate and allow for more coordinated control of the body.

Reflexes like the STNR and Moro play a role in core strength, body awareness, and pelvic floor coordination.

When reflexes are retained, it can sometimes contribute to challenges like constipation, withholding, and potty training difficulties.

This is one of the reasons movement — especially crawling — is so valuable.

Follow along next week as we dive deeper into constipation in both kids and adults and talk about what you can do to help 🤍

🚨NOT your typical milestone alarmist post

Harping on milestones can send parents into a frenzy of anxiety, so this post isn’t about that.

This post is simply an explanation of the many reasons OTs value crawling so much! Because as I always say- knowledge is power and I’m here to empower families in every way I can!

OTs love crawling so much because of how it supports the muscles and nervous system needed for attention, gross and fine motor coordination, visual perceptual skills and even bowel and bladder function later on.

Crawling helps strengthen:
💪🏼Core muscles/abdominals
💪🏼Pelvic floor stability and musculature
💪🏼Shoulders/arms
💪🏼Hands/wrists
💪🏼Head/neck posture

These are the same muscles kids use for healthy bowel and bladder control and even sitting still in class!

As babies and kids crawl, their nervous system matures and reflexes gradually integrate, allowing for more coordinated and controlled movement.

Sometimes when reflexes are retained longer than expected, it can contribute to challenges with:

⚠️Difficulty paying attention in class
⚠️Difficulty sitting still
⚠️Difficulty with reading/writing
⚠️Fine and gross motor coordination difficulties
⚠️Constipation
⚠️Withholding
⚠️Problems with bowel and bladder control

Crawling is one of the early ways the body builds this foundation. And it’s one of our favorite intervention strategies even for older kids!

✨Every child develops differently and on a different timeline, but providing opportunities for crawling, movement, and play can support overall development.

💭 Honestly, even us adults should be crawling more but that’s another post for another time 😜
