Employment for individuals with autism is a pressing issue worthy of attention. According to recent studies, the employment rate for adults with autism is alarmingly low.

Matthew Turcios has always dreamed of working, earning his own paycheck, and giving back to his community. As a young adult on the autism spectrum, that dream came with challenges — but Matthew never let them stand in his way.

With determination and a positive spirit, he jumped into every opportunity to grow. Through our employment program, he worked one-on-one with job coaches — honing his communication skills, practicing interviews, and learning how to showcase his strengths with pride. Step by step, his confidence soared.

That dedication led to a huge accomplishment: Matthew landed his first job at Saltgrass Steak House! For him, this achievement is more than just a paycheck—it represents independence, confidence, and the joy of reaching a goal he once thought was out of reach.

Today, Matthew holds his first check with pride, a symbol of hard work paying off and new opportunities ahead.
