Take the time to stop and ask someone how they are doing today. Take the time to pick up that piece of trash you pass. Take the time to compliment someone on their accomplishments or appearance. Taking that time can mean the world to someone.

How have you taken the time to make someone happy recently?

This year, we're celebrating 12 days and 8 nights of herbal recipes and asking for a little help in return for sharing some tastiness. At the end of the year, we begin our appeal for donations which ensures that The Herb Society of America can continue it's dedication to educating and sharing with our community.

By donating to HSA, you're not just supporting a cause; you're becoming part of a community that values education, research, and sustainable practices. Your contribution helps us continue our mission to educate and inspire people about the wonders and uses of herbs through various programs and partnerships.

So, in the spirit of sharing, here's a tasty recipe for a Mustard Dill sauce that's shared by Eleanor Davis of the Western Pennsylvania Unit.

Mustard Dill Sauce
½ cup fresh dill chopped
½ cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
3 tablespoons dill white wine vinegar
3 tablespoons plain yogurt
½ cup olive oil

Instructions
In a blender, combine all ingredients except the oil. With the motor running, slowly add the oil. Blend until thick and smooth. Place in a covered container and refrigerate. Serve with steamed vegetables, grilled chicken, or fish.

Delight your loved ones with a jar of Spiced Pecans—healthy, flavorful, and the perfect homemade gift for any occasion! 🎁🌿

"Not only is this healthy snack recipe a tasty treat, but a potentially healthy one as well.

Scientific research into the nutritional profile of pecans reports that these nutrient dense nuts have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system and even may help with diabetes.

Pecans are high in anti-oxidants, magnesium and vitamin E. They are wonderful to add to all your healthy snack recipes.

Also, this wholesome and yummy treat is low in sugar, something we can all cut down on during the holiday season." -Rosalee de la Forêt

[Image Description: The image features a close-up of spiced pecans in a dark ceramic bowl. The pecans are glistening, likely coated with a syrupy glaze, and have a rich, deep brown color. They are arranged to show their textured, ridged surface. A few pecans are scattered around the bowl on a rustic wooden surface, adding to the warm and cozy feel of the image.]

Lightning bugs are a magical part of summer. But that magic is fading... many species are endangered. It's believed that light pollution, human development/habitat loss, overuse of pesticides and climate change are to blame. So, let's all do our part to preserve these amazing little creatures!

1. Turn off outdoor lights and close blinds or curtains at night. Light pollution affects mating. If you must have an outdoor light, consider a motion activated light or a warm-colored LED bulb/bug lite bulb.

2. Leave the logs. Some firefly larvae need rotten logs and other tree litter.

3. Add a water feature such as a small fountain or pond. Fireflies thrive around water. Treated swimming pools don't count. Lightning bugs feed off smaller insects and snails that do not exist around chlorinated water.

4. Avoid lawn chemicals and pesticides: these affect firefly larvae and the insects they eat. Fireflies consume pesty insects, so by protecting fireflies, we reduce pests.

5. Mow less: Lightning bugs spend their days in the grass and frequent mowing may disrupts the population. Consider creating a small prairie or section of long native grasses into your landscape.

6. Plant native trees. Pines are especially beneficial to fireflies.
