Take care of your emotional well-being this winter! Bad days happen, but focusing on “3 Good Things” every day can help change your overall mindset to be more positive!

According to Dr. Bryan Sexton, Associate Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke School of Medicine, writing down 3 good things from your day within 2 hours of bedtime for 7 days can positively impact your mental well-being.

Give it a try and view more details in the Winter STREAK Wellness Guide at https://online.pubhtml5.com/tkrfk/lyct/ =19

At Keystone Life Skills Center, we’ve created a space designed specifically for teens and young adults to learn, grow, and feel confident in their abilities. Our services include:
• Occupational therapy (ages 12-21)
• Speech therapy (ages 12-21)
• Feeding therapy for all ages

Here, our clients can practice real-world skills in an environment that feels welcoming and age-appropriate. These skills include things like social interaction, building friendships, cooking, cleaning, organization, planning, time management, problem-solving, self care, exploring career interests, and more.

Our therapists recently organized a fun event where clients worked together to build gingerbread houses. Check out the creative houses they built!

If you’d like your teen or young adult to be part of experiences like this while building life skills that foster independence, talk to their primary care provider and ask about a referral.

Studies show there are 71% more car crashes involving drugs or alcohol between December 31st at 6pm and January 1st at 6am. Studies also show that drivers who have THC, illicit drugs, and even prescription medications (especially in combination with alcohol or other substances) in their systems are more likely to be involved in deadly crashes.

Impaired driving is not worth the risk. A DUI can cost you thousands of dollars from fines, vehicle damage, court and bail costs, driver safety classes, time off of work, and increased insurance rates. It can also result in jail time, loss of license, limited employment opportunities, and most importantly could cost you, or someone else, their life.

If your holiday plans include alcohol or other substances, make arrangements now to prevent bad decisions later. Ask someone to be your designated driver, plan to stay the night, or have money set aside for a ride service. Even one drink can affect driving ability. Be safe and be smart.
