June is PTSD Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding and reduce the stigma surrounding trauma and its lasting effects. π§
PTSD can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, and its impact often extends far beyond the event itself. It can affect how a person feels, thinks, relates to others, and moves through daily life.
Many people associate PTSD with military service, but PTSD can affect anyone who has experienced trauma, including abuse, neglect, accidents, medical trauma, loss, violence, or other overwhelming life experiences.
πΏ PTSD is more common than many people realize
πΏ Symptoms can include anxiety, hypervigilance, sleep difficulties, emotional numbness, or feeling constantly on edge
πΏ Healing is possible with the right support and interventions
At Whole & Holy, our entire team is trauma-informed and trained in trauma interventions, providing care that recognizes the impact trauma can have on both the mind and body.
This month, we honor the strength of those living with trauma and encourage greater awareness, compassion, and understanding for the many ways PTSD can affect individuals and families π
