January is National Bath Safety Month. A few simple precautions can help prevent accidents.
• Never leave a child alone in the bathtub.
• Avoid any distractions, like getting on your phone, tidying up a mess, etc.
• Check the water temperature with your wrist or elbow to ensure the water is not too hot.
• Use no more than two inches of water for infants, or four inches for toddlers who can sit independently.
• Drain the tub once the bath is over. Never leave standing water.
• Use non-slip mats in the tub to prevent falls.
• Remember to store medications and cleaning supplies out of reach of children.
• Remember to unplug curling irons and blow dryers.
