We worry about our horses. We worry about them spending too much time inside, developing vices, getting stiff, getting bored.

But we rarely stop to notice that we have become "life sour."

Look at the human habitat:

We sleep in a brick box.
We commute in a metal box.
We sit for 8 hours staring at a glowing light box.

We are the ones living in captivity. We are the ones who are domesticated, clipped, and rugged by society. We are fed a diet of artificial urgency, blue light, and processed stress... 📱

And we wonder why we feel anxious.
We wonder why we feel "nappy" on a Monday morning.

Then... we drive to the yard in our metal boxes 🚗

It is often the only time in 24 hours that we touch something real. Mud. Cold water. Rough hair. The smell of earth and hay....unless you work here.

We tell ourselves we go there to exercise the horse. But if we are honest about it. They are the ones exercising us.

They are re-wilding us, one grooming session at a time. They are the anchor that pulls us out of our heads and back into our bodies. They remind our nervous systems that we are not designed for spreadsheets—we are designed for connection.

When you feel that desperate, magnetic pull to go to the yard, even when it’s freezing, even when you are exhausted... That isn’t just a "hobby." That is your survival instinct fighting for air.

You aren’t just "checking on the horse." You are escaping the human zoo for an hour to remember what it feels like to be a living thing.

So if you just stood in the field today and breathed them in? You didn’t waste time. You just came up for air. 🫁🐴

Usually we make posts regarding humans and during flu season, we remind clients about hygiene and tell everyone if they’ve had a fever within 24-hours of your appointment to please reschedule….

But today, we make a post in regard to a disease that’s going around within our horse population in the US.

We have been notified of an outbreak of EHV in south-western states at some of the large horse shows and barrel racing events. Unfortunately, this is a very contagious disease and it would not take much for it to spread very quickly to our area.

Our horse therapy partners are vaccinated, but the strain that is being passed is not covered by the vaccines.
Because of this—we will be implementing bio security at this facility so that we keep our horse therapy partners as safe as possible.

Everyone who comes in contact with our horse therapy partners will be asked to wash hands or sanitize hands before interacting with them.

If you have horses, ponies, donkeys, or mules at your home, we ask that you be sure not to allow your clothing to come in contact with them before coming for your appointment. This disease is spread through mucus and bodily fluids.

We also advise that you take the same precations when you return to your equine at home.

Human health and horse health is very important here. These are just simple ways we can keep everyone healthy.

Thanks so much for your help and we look forward to seeing you soon!!

🧠💤 Winding Down for Bed: Tips for Neurodivergent Kids 🌙✨

Bedtime doesn’t have to be a battle! For many neurodivergent children—including those with ADHD, Autism, or sensory differences—a customized wind-down routine can turn chaos into calm.

Every child is unique, but here are some evidence-based and parent-approved tips to help your child feel safe, soothed, and ready for sleep:

👶 Start Slow & Predictable
🗓️ Use a visual schedule or checklist with pictures
🔁 Keep the routine in the same order each night
💬 Give countdowns (“10 minutes until bath”) and use timers

👂 Mind the Senses
💡 Dim lighting, weighted blankets, or blackout curtains
🎧 Use calming sounds (white noise, nature sounds, soft music)
🪥 Try different toothbrush textures if oral sensitivity is an issue
🛁 Bath too stimulating? Try a warm washcloth instead

🖐️ Add Calming Activities
🖌️ Gentle drawing, fidget play, or slow rocking
🧘 Breathing games: “Blow up a balloon” or “Smell the flower, blow the candle”
📚 Offer a favorite story, audiobook, or song—repetition is comforting

🛏️ Stick to Comfort Items
🧸 Favorite stuffed animal, familiar pajamas, or cozy bedding
🙋 Let your child help choose what feels “just right” for them

💬 Tip: Sleep struggles are common in neurodivergent children—and you’re not alone. Talk to us about supplement use, sensory supports, and behavioral strategies that actually work. 💙

Drop a 🧠 if you’ve found what works for your child and share ideas—or a 🕵️ if you're still searching! We’re here to help every step of the way!

Some in our community may be celebrating the 12-days of Yule, which begins tomorrow with Mother’s Night. This is a day to honor and offer thanks to our female ancestors.
This coincides with the Winter Solstice: the darkest day of the year. From the shortest day of the year, comes promise of hope and light.

We will all walk through darkness at some point in our lives. Your counselor is always here to walk with you through it and support you as you hold onto hope, while we journey to the light.

No matter what you are celebrating during the next 2 weeks, please find happiness and peace with the ones you enjoy most. Happy Holidays, Happy Yule, Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year…

Miss Arya went to the big arena today. There was so much to look at and experience for her. She had a hard time regulating in her excitement and wasn’t paying attention to me. Instead of getting frustrated and angry I let her explore to the end of the lead rope (a boundary) and asked for her attention back. I repeated that sequence as many times as it took while remaining calm until she slowly self regulated and was able to focus and listen to me. We even got in a nice ride.
