Headhunter: migraines headaches and more

How many muscles do you have in your face? 10? 20? Try 42. Add on the muscles of the neck and shoulder and you have about 68 muscles that are our first responders to stress. Running through all those muscles are nerves, blood, lymphatics, sinuses, and every expression of emotion we make. It’s no wonder so many people struggle with neck and shoulder problems!
Daily stretching of these muscles is a must for those who experience frequent headaches and migraines. And in some cases massage may be essential to relieving your pain. How does that work? By improving blood flow to the head, reducing tension on nerves, symptoms of pain are decreased.

Sore sitbone? Sciatica

Another increasingly common ailment in our society is sciatica. The sciatic nerve innervates the leg, when it is compressed it can cause shooting pain, and numbness anywhere from the hip to toe.
So what causes it then? Usually it’s one of two things. 1) Compression at the nerve origin in the spinal column. This usually means misalignment, or disc problems. Or 2) Extreme tightness between the piriformis and superior gellmus muscles of the glutes. These two muscles are affected by long periods of sitting or standing and when inflamed or tight can pinch the sciatica nerve causing sciatic symptoms.
You can get relief via stretching the gluteus muscles however for persistent pain ask your LMT about glute work on your next visit.

Muscle memory: chronic overuse

Did you know that 60%-70% of the population in industrialized countries-- i.e. America--suffer from chronic low back pain?
If you think about it that’s actually not too shocking, when was the last time you met someone who didn’t have any sort of long term aches?
Let’s face it our society revolves around jobs and very few places actually give much attention to employee health, which sucks! I wish I could slap all the corporate bigwigs out there and tell them how important their employees are, but I think that would be frowned upon.
Instead, I’ll talk to you. You Do Not Need To Stay In Pain! Massage Therapy has been proven to help reduce chronic aches, and restore lost mobility from sitting at a desk all day.
So what are you going to do now? Schedule a massage!

Massage is cheap

Real talk rant:
When you go to a spa for a massage you’ll spend a minimun of $100 on average. And guess how much of that your therapist gets? If they’re lucky the whole gratuity and somewhere between $17-$40. So where does the rest of that go? I get there are expensies to running a business (as a private practice therapist I REALLY understand this) but if I’m honest I can cover my expenses in a week of full time work. Yeah 1 week at $45.00 an hour, before tips.

Massage has always been about helping people get out of pain for me. And lets be honest the people that are in the most pain can’t spend $100+ every week going to a spa! Even if you could you wouldn’t want to.

Chiropractic/integrated medical offices seem to understand this to a degree. Everywhere I’ve looked at massage in a medical office of some sort charges around $50-$70 an hour. That’s better, and while some insurances cover a percentage of the fee, a lot of people still can’t afford that much every week. It would cost people at least $200 a month to get weekly care—which by the way is optimal for the first month or two of treatment.

Okay, but what about experience and advanced education. Most the time more experience means the therapist knows how to work without hurting themselves: in other words how to be effective and “lazy” (lazy isn’t exactly the right word, but it kinda is). Also does it really require more work to help someone better? This is the reason I don’t charge extra for prenatal, or cranial sessions, those are so easy to do and are a great break on my body I’m not about to charge extra for less intensive work. The only reason I will charge extra is if it requires more effort, extra product, or use of special tools.

In all reality massage doesn’t actually cost very much on the provider’s end. So charging clients an absurd rate only makes it harder to book clients on a regular basis.

So in case you were wondering about why my rates are so low for the experience and quality I provide, that’s why. Cause I hate taking more money from people than I need to.

Want to know a secret? I have a really cool dad. My old man is almost 54 going on 22. Seriously, that dude races dirt bikes and places very well in his division, plays electric guitar, builts things that go boom, and routinely puts his adult children in their place in any sports competition.

But more than what he does is who he is. He loves his family more than I can even begin to imagine or express. He’s a diligent man of God and always has advice when life gets tough. He can talk to just about anyone and will tease you as a sign of affection.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about my dad, and I grin thinking about all the fun we’ve had together. Chances are you have a man in your life that you feel the same about. This year skip the tie and yard tools and celebrate the men you love in your life with a massage.

Men truly are the backbone of society, working long hours, putting up with sucky/labor intensive jobs, and loving their family with their enormous hearts. All of that puts a lot of strain on their muscles.

Did you know that massage reduces stress, chronic pain, emotional imbalance, and improves serotonin levels? Spoil your man this month with a Father’s Day treatment special.

This special includes FREE graston scarping and a bonus 5 minutes. And this month’s bonus enhancement is unlimited access to the percussion massage gun! That’s 3 FREE enhancements for the special guy in your life.

Not sure when you want to schedule? Buy a Gift Certificate that’s valid for 6 months after purchase, just message me with the quantity desired!

Want to make it a Surprise? BOOK NOW at the top of the page with Facebook’s super easy booking tool! You can also message me to find out about appointment times.
